DESCRIPTION
The International Studies Program at the University of California, Irvine invites applications from outstanding scholars involved in critical interdisciplinary global research with substantive foci in political, sociocultural, historical, legal, geographical and economic issues to apply for a tenure-track assistant professor position. All candidates with a research agenda that engages complex global issues and cuts across foci in creative ways will be considered. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline in the social sciences or humanities. Candidates should address explicitly how critical and global perspectives are deployed and/or local-global dimensions feature in their research. Candidates should have an outstanding record of research, publication, teaching and professional service.

The International Studies Program is planning to become a full department with a unique doctoral program. The candidate will be involved in building an innovative, interdisciplinary and diverse intellectual environment and developing curriculum around global theory, research, and pressing regional and transnational issues.

Assistant Professor of Religion - Bloomfield College

The Division of Humanities invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Religion, to begin in August 2018. The Division is seeking a scholar of the religious traditions of the African Diaspora and/or Latin America and the Caribbean; those with an additional interest in the intersection of gender and religion will be viewed favorably. The demonstrated ability to teach a broad range of courses in world religion is also desirable.

Candidates should have earned a Ph.D. in History of Religion or a related field; ABD considered. Teaching excellence is the first priority at Bloomfield College, so candidates should have teaching experience. As a federally recognized Minority Serving Institution, we also highly value experience teaching students of color and first-generation students.

Assistant Professor-Africana Studies (Interfolio ID: 28172)

The Department of Africana Studies at Rutgers University, New Brunswick seeks applicants for  a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level. While we seek a broad range of  applicants, we are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching examine  one or more of the following areas: 1) intersecting histories and engagements of the African  diaspora and other diasporas of color (e.g. Afro-Asian, Afro-Latino); 2) religion in the African  diaspora; and/or 3) performance studies and expressive and creative arts.

Africana Studies at Rutgers attracts a broad range of undergraduate students from diverse  backgrounds who find that the scholarly and methodological frameworks which undergird  Africana Studies can speak to a range of cultural, political and ethnic experiences. Successful  candidates will be prepared to teach in an interdisciplinary department with diverse analytical  and methodological approaches; will help the Department expand its current research profile  and curricular offerings; and will participate in the life of the department as a good departmental  citizen.

Required qualifications: PhD in hand at the time of appointment; demonstrated excellence in  scholarly research; and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Desired qualifications: ability to  teach one or more of the following courses: Introduction to Africana Studies, Introduction to  Africana Methodology, and/or Research Seminar in Africana Studies; and experience in  mentoring or advising of undergraduate students.
