Raising Godly leaders for a country in need
September 2016
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are happy to have Katherine visiting us here in the U.S. again this fall. She has spent some time with family and also in North Carolina where she connected with some new churches and donors as well as Metrolina Christian Academy. The kindergarten through 5th graders and their

parents successfully conducted our first Donate A Plate event. They raised enough funds for 15,829 meals for our Genesis School kids. They raised additional funds online for 4,347 more meals.  This will feed breakfast and lunch to the school children for over  3 months of our year and is a great example of kids helping kids. Thanks so much Metrolina students for your hard work and compassion. Please let us know if you have a school, youth group, children's program or any group, large or small, who would like to sponsor a Donate A Plate event. Every gift of $2.30, the average cost of a school lunch in the U.S. will feed breakfast and lunch to five Genesis kids. See more information at our Website.

Katherine is scheduled for a number of radio interviews while she is here. We will announce the air dates and where you can download the interviews on our hineskids facebook page as they come up.

Katherine has been on the field ministering for 20 years after she felt God's call on her life. We were thrilled four years ago when the Lord brought us Melanie to join HUM and serve alongside Katherine. She came to us fully equipped for ministry in Uganda with many short-term trips under her belt as well as a year of in country language, cultural and ministry training and with loving support of many friends and churches. She has been a huge blessing to the ministry and to those we serve in the village of Kamonkoli. Melanie faithfully manages our giant AWANA children's ministry, sometimes with over 1,000 children in attendance, and provides true Bible education daily to the children of our Genesis School. They love how Melanie brings God's word to life in ways that many of them have never before seen. They are eager to learn when Teacher Melanie is there. Melanie teaches a weekly Bible study for the Genesis teachers who are growing in their faith and Bible knowledge as a result. We also appreciate the meaningful support she offers Katherine and the HUM staff.

During her time with us Melanie has lived about a 20 minute drive (when roads and traffic are good) away in the larger town of Mbale where more appropriate housing is available and she has been able to live with other young missionaries from ministries in Mbale.   Melanie has been faithfully committed to the ministry for these years and would love to live onsite and be able to be a bigger part of the ministry and community.   Because there is still no appropriate housing in the village we would like to build a home on the HUM property, not only to provide a home for Melanie, but to offer housing for interns and future young missionary ladies. Construction estimates for this home are approximately $67,000. We ask that you prayerfully consider how you might minister to Melanie by helping us bring her to our property. Please send donations to HUM marked "Missionary Housing". We thank you in advance for your love & generosity.

We are growing on the U.S. side of the ministry as well. We are so grateful for all of your gifts to make this ministry possible. But, you are so much more than this to us. You are a vital part of the ministry and we work hard to offer you a meaningful and blessed experience.   Barb Moritzky has joined us recently to help us do this.   Some of you may already have met her or heard from her on our behalf and we hope you will all enjoy getting to know her. I have asked her to share a little about herself. Please welcome Barb to our family.

I am blessed to be joining, in a greater way, with Hines Ugandan Ministry. HUM has been a part of my and my family's life for many years.  I served on the HUM board and worked as the administrator for about 6 years in the late 90's until 2005. Those years were a developmental time for HUM and my family chose HUM as our missions organization for several years by connecting through sponsorship, music, AWANA, and events. Currently, as the Development Coordinator, I work closely with Cindy to reach out to donors, create and facilitate fundraising, and other tasks to further the mission of HUM. God's hand on Katherine and this ministry continues to amaze me, as I have seen the incredible growth and now the graduation of so many overcomers.

My husband, Rand, son, Sean, daughter, Rebecca and I have attended Bear Valley Church for nearly 20 years. We have been active in theatre and music ministries, VBS, AWANA-Bear Valley, Grace Covenant  and Foothills Bible Church. My experience has included serving and living in Tunisia, N. Africa with the Peace Corps for nearly 5 years. I have completed my Bachelor's and Masters of Social Work
as well as a Certificate of Management.  I have worked extensively with people with disabilities, women in

development, and for the past 15 years as a development and marketing director with youth and community orchestras.
