Uniform Exchange

We are very appreciative of our parents who maintain the organization of our Uniform Exchange closet!  We want to let you know that Mrs. Heger will be here at school each Tuesday and Thursday morning between 8:30 - 10:00 am to help you either choose or donate gently used uniform attire.

IMPORTANT: Any uniform attire you would like to donate must be brought to the school office in an effort to keep the closet organized. Also, we are no longer accepting white polo shirts as a donation. In addition, the Lost & Found items will be placed in a bin labeled "Lost & Found" and will be stored in the Uniform Exchange closet.
Thank You!

August 25, 2017

Dear Parents,

Let us begin our first school newsletter with a prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of life
and the blessings of each new day. Guide us as we learn
and help us make the right choices. Watch over our families,
friends and teachers and assist us in our struggles
as we seek to do your will.
Help us to follow in your footsteps.
Amen

First and foremost, we would like to thank YOU for choosing St. A's to educate your child(ren). With the end of one academic year comes an exciting beginning!

We recently released a new website updated our school logo and Mission Statement.
New Mission Statement: St. Aloysius School is a community
rooted in Catholic teachings and values,
devoted to academic excellence, and
committed to serving others.

A Mission Statement represents the collective commitments that WE have made as a school and community. Our students need to understand what we stand for and that our priorities include achieving the highest level of faith, academic excellence and community service!

On another note, this year we will be working toward renewing our Accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. This is a rigorous self-study that measures and verifies our achievements and identifies ways in which St. A's objectives can be perfected using the Standards for Accreditation.  After the self-study, a team of peer evaluators, who are faculty and administrators from other accredited schools, conduct an on-site evaluation. The team summarizes its findings in a written report that addresses the school's success and suggests ways for improvement.

We want to welcome our NEW families to our special community and invite them to a "New Family Cocktail Party" on Monday, August 28 th at 6:30 pm in Stapleton Hall. This is the perfect opportunity to mingle, share experiences and develop new relationships.

Lastly, we are grateful for our parent volunteers and all the activities they support in our school. The Diocese of Bridgeport requires that ALL volunteers receive a background check and are VIRTUS trained. Please plan on meeting these requirements before the beginning of the year so that you can be part of our team. For more information, please visit: https://www.virtus.org or contact the HELP DESK at 1-888-847-8870.

We look forward to welcoming you back to school on Wednesday, August 30 th . This will be a full day (8:25 - 2:30 pm) beginning with a prayer from Fr. Rob and a flag raising ceremony in the courtyard (weather permitting). Parents are welcome to join the students and teachers for this St. Aloysius School tradition!

God Bless You!

Mr. Bardhyl Gjoka
Principal

Welcome Back Letter from Mr. Gjoka

Upgrades

There have been many exciting upgrades to our building.   Six new backboards/hoops have been installed, new projectors in several classrooms, new whiteboards in upper school classroom, and the PA system has been extended to reach the playground, computer room art and gymnasium.

Additional upgrades have been made throughout the building.  The building has been cleaned thoroughly, and our shiny new floors and new carpets are beautiful.  Additional signs and logo boards with our new mission statement can be found throughout the building for our upcoming accreditation.  Additionally, we have two new copy machines!

Lastly, Mr. Lance Brevard will be joining us as our security guard.  He will now be present at our school entrance and/or for evening events as needed.  As a former officer, Mr. Brevard retired after 30 years in law enforcement, and his extensive background includes work in the field of Traffic Enforcement, Investigation and Officer Training and certification.  In addition to formal police work, Mr. Brevard has been a computer consultant and has worked extensively in private security.  He is also very involved in youth sports, coaching football, basketball and baseball, and serves as the vice president of the AYF football organization in New Milford, where he currently resides, and where he raised his three sons since 2003.
