20 Year Report!!!

Need a reason?  :)  At 20 years in the making, the Coalition remains the only organization in South Carolina advocating for people biking and walking at the state level.   This year, we embark on our most ambitious campaign yet that culminates 20 years of grassroots advocacy into a state Complete Streets policy. Please consider an End of Year donation!   This year, we began f acilitating a coalition of partners called the SC Livable Communities Alliance to pass this ambitious policy through a strategic campaign.
PCC finds Regional Insights for
State Policy and Campaign
Every year, PCC staff attends a national conference for staff development, but this year we went local, visiting adjacent states instead, to improve our state policy campaign.  We've already put these lessons into practice.  First, at the NC Bike Summit, we looked to key elements of NC's state policy to improve our state Complete Streets policy.  One key piece we borrowed from NC is how they work with local governments to better insert bike and walk infrastructure during street repaving.
That is now in our draft policy.
Second, we attended the Untokening conference in Atlanta, GA, to learn how to make our movement more relevant and inclusive to the most number of people - IE, how do we better engage and grow the number of our advocacy leaders, to help us build a more bike and walk friendly  South Carolina?  These lessons learned will help us for years down the road, in our campaign towards a more bike-able, walk-able,
livable SC for all.
