Running the race set before us ...   Heb 12:1
August 2017 #167

Dear friends,

Summer is  almost over for most of the people reading our updates, for us in Haiti we have entered the time of many thunderstorms and are praying we will not be visited by a hurricane...

A small storm can destroy a lot

We had a week of some bad weather in July and this mom and her four kids lost the little they had.  With money in the shelter relief fund we where able to build them a "safe" place.

From start to finish it takes about three to four days for a shelter to be a reality. We build shelters for those who lost their dwelling after a storm came through. However one of the requirements is that the mother owns the land we build on. To work alongside our Haitian men to see this take place is a joy for all.
Child Sponsorship Program (CSP)

It's a matter of two weeks and the 167 kids in the program will return to their schools. Between all of them we have eight schools the students attend. We are still in the process of rebuilding ECCA school and trust that the remaining money for the third building, with three classrooms will soon come in. The picture to the left is their old school. On going relief in Nepal...

After the 2015 earthquake Hope Force (HFI) has returned twice to continue to help with rebuilding. Just in the last four weeks Nepal has been hit with heavy rainstorms and many are effected with the aftermath of flooding and mudslides.  HFI is planning to return to Nepal in februari- depending on money coming in for my airline ticket and some of the other expenses I would love to join the team. Please let me know if you like to partner with me for this deployment. Contact me by email at [email protected] and I can give you more specific information how to send a check for this.

Houses of Hope continues...

We just finished two Houses of Hope and will start a class for new candidates in the next few weeks. We are grateful for donors making this all possible and the new home owners are very grateful for a permanent home to live in, which they can add on when money allows them to do so.

Prayer points:
  • The new school year for the 167 children in HFI sponsorship program
  • New sponsors for the many kids on the waiting list
  • Marianne's fundraising for yet another deployment to Nepal Feb 14-29
  • For the teams coming over the next couple of months to help us in Sous Savanne
  • Our health and ongoing monthly personal financial support
 We are thankful for:
  • Our health.
  • The release of funding for the new vehicle,
  • Money donated to continue the building of more Houses of Hope
  • That by living and working in the Sous Savanne area, those we meet will see that our only security is in Christ our Lord.

In closing, we want to thank each one of you. We could not serve in Haiti without the support of our family, friends and churches. Thank you, mesi anpil (kreyol), so much for lifting us up in prayer and reaching out to us. We feel loved and are grateful.

Our Internet is still barely functioning and if you have reached out to us but we have not written back, please resend your message. We love to hear from you.
