Grove Cruise
Since 2003, this 3-day family themed event has been coordinated and run by local car enthusiast volunteers. Grove Cruise is funded by local businesses and also supported by the City of Spruce Grove. Their mission is to offer our community a summer festival, based on automobile culture.
Grove Cruise has quickly established itself as one of Spruce Grove's premier family summer events which promises an amazing weekend on August 18 - 20, 2017. Event organizers are encouraging car lovers to come out with their families and enjoy many exciting events the show has to offer. This years' Grove Cruise includes a Poker Run, Show & Shine, Tailgate Swap Meet & Sale, Poker Run, Stereo Competition, and much more!
Grove Cruise 2017 is looking for the following:
- Grab Bags for Participants (500)
- Grab Bags for Children (300)
- Volunteers
Participants are 80% within our trade area, so this may be a great opportunity for you to showcase your business. There will be fireworks BOTH nights this year, with over 400 vehicles displayed and thousands expected to attend this three day event.

Spruce Grove residents will officially go to the voting station this fall for the upcoming municipal election.
Voters will elect one mayor and six aldermen to a four year term.
Candidate registration
Candidates who intend to run for a spot on Spruce Grove City Council in this fall 's municipal election and plan to accept campaign contributions must register as a candidate before accepting any campaign
contributions. The registration form is available online at www.sprucegrove.org/election.
Important dates:
Mon., Sept. 18 - Nomination Day
Candidates must file their nomination forms in person (by the candidate or a representative) between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at City Hall.
Nomination forms must be signed by 25 eligible voters to be accepted and must be accompanied by a deposit of $100 in the form of a certified cheque, money order or cash.
Monday, Oct. 16 - Election Day
Voting stations will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Station locations and voter identification requirements will be made available in the coming months. Advance voting options will also be available - stay tuned for dates and locations.

Alberta could retaliate against B.C. over Trans Mountain, but it may get ugly

After the B.C. government stepped up its fight against the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, there were new calls for the federal and Alberta governments to consider retaliation over a divisive project that has cleared major regulatory hurdles.
While mechanisms are available to either override B.C. opposition or punish the province, several observers said Friday few options are palatable to federal or provincial governments.
United Conservative Party candidates Jason Kenney, Doug Schweitzer and Jeff Callaway have publicly mused about potential retaliation against B.C., with Schweitzer proposing to "kick" the province "out of the New West Partnership."
They're not alone in thinking B.C.'s hard line should be met with a comparably firm response, if the province is successful in blocking or significantly delaying the project...continue reading

Spruce Grove & District Chamber of Commerce helping shape Policy
Every year, member chambers of commerce and boards of trade, along with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce's policy committees, are invited to submit resolutions of a national scope to our policy process. This process culminates in a democratic vote on the floor of our annual general meeting.
Following approval at the AGM, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, along with its members, can move forward in it's advocacy efforts based on the resolutions contained within the Policy Resolutions Books. Each resolution, once approved, has an effective lifespan of three years.
