This Sunday, August 27
Women, Race, Misogyny, Economics, and Lesbian Erasure
Service Leader: Katie Resendiz
Sunday, August 27, 10:30 AM
Through storytelling, song, and obituary this service will grieve the women we have disappeared. Through yelling, laughing, and poetry, we will work to honor each other and the divinity we are again and again becoming. As a community learning intersectionality, we find that naming and examining all of our aspects is hard, heartbreaking work. We look to our foremothers to remind us that it is the only work that has ever made us whole. And together we move forward.

Chispa is asking the state to use this money to replace diesel buses in  school  districts with high childhood asthma rates. Snacks will be provided.

Calling all chefs! Do you like to cook? Are you looking for a way to use your talents to serve the congregation? Could you commit to cooking for a crowd in the Johnson Room, one  Thursday  night this year? Our Community Night dinners will resume on  September 21 , and we are looking for chefs to make it happen! Come join us to choose a date and plan your meal! Not a cook, but still love Community Night? We also need Sous Chefs to sign up to bring salads, bread and sides. In addition, we could use some extra hands in the kitchen for set up, serving, and assisting chefs. If you attend Community Night, we'd love you to sign up for one night as a host helper! We will have a Community Night Orientation on  Sunday, August 27,  after service in Annex B. Raised-Upper-Class Facilitator Needed
Our Identity Nights program helps us make connections and share with other members of our community around issues of identity. This fall, one of our Identity Nights will be about socioeconomic class. We have two facilitators for the raised-poor and raised-working-class group, and two for the raised-middle-class group, but only one for the group of those raised in either the upper-middle-class and upper-class-elite, and it would be good to have one more. Most of us have mixed class backgrounds, so if you have any upper-class influence in your childhood at all and would be willing to help facilitate this group, please email Benjie Messer below. We know that class background can be a sensitive and confusing aspect of identity, and we appreciate you considering helping our congregation grow in this way.
