Winter 2017 Student Classes

Class #1

Writing Class: From Words to Works, for grades 6-8

Classes begin January 24, 2017!

 

This class begins with learning how to select descriptive words for a sentence, then how to build an interesting sentence that communicates an idea with greater clarity. Next, students will construct cohereny paragraphs with their meaningful sentences. This class will culmunate with introducting the structure of a five-paragraph essay, including the introduction, body, and conclusion.

 

Classes meet Tuesdays, Jan 24-Mar 28, 2017 from 3:45-5:15pm at the Reading Center.

 

Tuition of $250 is due at the time of registration and includes: writing notebook and pre-screen meeting with course instructor. Price increases to $275 after January 13, 2017.

Class #2

Study Skills & Reading Comprehension, for grades 7-11

Classes begin January 26, 2017!

 

This study skills class will focus on:

* Comprehension strategies
* Test taking
* Time management
* Study reading
* Self management
* Concentration
* Note taking
* Listening
* Class participation
* Learning and memory

Classes meet Thursdays, Jan 26-Mar 30, 2017 from 3:45-5:15pm at the Reading Center.

 

Tuition of $250 is due at the time of registration and includes: study skills notebook. Price increases to $275 after January 13, 2017.

Other Details for All Classes:

  • Full payment for classes is due at the time of registration online, or within one weeks if paying by mail, to keep your student's place in the class.  If you wish to set up a payment plan, please contact our bookkeeper, Gade Grinnell at 507-288-5271.
  • Partial scholarships are available for qualified famiies on a first-come, first-served basis.  See our website for a scholarship application.
  • Each child requires a separate registration, and will receive a separate confirmation email.
  • The Reading Center reserves the right to cancel (and refund tution) for classes if not enough registrations are received.
