DEAR PARTNERS

The Business Plus Board of Directors held its Third Quarter Meeting earlier this month reporting on Burley, Idaho. Highlights include:

Doug Manning, Burley's Economic Development Director, informed the group that businesses with a diversity in size and scope are making inquiries with site visits and RFPs. Manning reported on the SelectUSA conference in June in Washington, DC, with a large group from Idaho attending, and DOW Chemical's construction and hiring for their new Styrofoam insulation plant.

Matt Cook of Goode Motor spoke about the company's history and its growth. Cook attributed Goode Motor's success to its exceptional staff. He drew attention to "the export of talent," where our youth are leaving the area for schooling and employment, and urged leaders to guide them to local educational and employment opportunities.

Luke Bellamy  of Watco Companies explained their new warehouse and distribution facility, and their ability to transport agricultural products from Idaho to the East Coast in as little as six days. Watco's custom-designed rail cars will reduce loading time, increase capacity, reduce damage, and expedite delivery.

Thank you again to our meeting sponsors  Fabri-Kal,  Mountain West Realty,  and

We invite you to invest in our region by investing in  Business Plus.

SMALL BUSINESS  INNOVATION
RESEARCH  (SBIR)  ROAD TOUR
Learn how to help your business through government grants

The Idaho Small Business Development Center, in conjunction with Idaho National Laboratory and the Idaho Department of Commerce, is bringing the story of non-dilutive funding opportunities to six communities across Idaho. Building upon the success of the National SBIR Road Tour stop at Boise State University in May, the Idaho SBIR Road Tour will feature subject experts, special speakers, 1-on-1 coaching and local guests.

If you're an innovator, tech entrepreneur, researcher or small technology firm, don't miss this opportunity to learn how to access $2.5B in early stage technology funding through the SBIR and STTR programs and nearly $1M in commercialization grants to Idaho companies through the Idaho Global Entrepreneurial Mission (IGEM).

You'll hear about partnering with the Idaho National Laboratory and the Department of Energy, and meet one-on-one with experts in small business funding, R&D and local resources.
