Telescope Basics and the 2017 Solar Eclipse

If you're ready to look up with more than just your eyes, join us for tips on choosing your first telescope and how to use it with Bruce Berger.  Then Kelly Beatty will give us the Why, What, Where, and How of the total solar eclipse that will cross the continental U.S. in 2017!  

Boston Public Library's Linda MacIver and  Even Thornberry will talk about the resources contained in the BPL and the Map Center. 

Followed by Ted Reinstein's Talk, "Wicked Pissed"

The Chelmsford Friends of the Library Annual Meeting will be  followed by the special program, "Wicked Pis sed" by Ted Reinstein, author of " The meeting is from 7 - 7:15pm followed by refreshments. The lecture begins at 7:30 pm.

Breaking the WWII Enigma Code
Friday, 12/9 at 10am
McCarthy Meeting Room
Dr. Lee Poirier, PhD will give a lecture on  the breaking of the 'unbreakable' Enigma code.  The talk will describe how the Enigma Machine encoded messages, discuss the work at Bletchley Park, and follow the development of Turing's Bombe that made it possible to read German communications.

December Holiday Hours
Chelmsford Public Library will be closed December 24th, 25th, and 26th for Christmas. We will also close at 1pm on Saturday, 12/31 and be closed on Sunday, January 1st and Monday January 2nd. Happy New Year!

Weekly storytimes in the Children's Department continue through Friday, December 16th, the beginning of our winter storytime break. Regular storytimes resume January 23rd, 2017. During the winter break, we have special school vacation week activities; Saturday programming; and bubble dance parties!
