Safe Sleep and the Season of Giving
December 2016
Hello Friends,

We all want the children in our care to be happy, healthy and continually progressing.  Safety is the first step toward this goal. Everyone knows there are certain hazards where safety concerns are obvious, take transportation or food-related risks, for example.  Our organization has been working for some time to raise awareness of an equally important topic that can have a profound impact on infants, safe sleep practices.

In response to the newly released American Academy of Pediatricians recommendations, Rainbow Fleet is offering more training opportunities to help child care providers and parents understand how to best care for infants. Safe sleep training helps lessen the danger of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and other sleep-related risks, all of which are covered in these trainings.

According to the   CDC, SIDS is the leading cause of death among infants under the age of one, killing 3,500 infants in the U.S. each year. This staggering statistic is frightening and we must do all we can ensure our children are safe.

Many sleep-related risks are impacted by the sleep environment and education is the key.  That is why our safe sleep training is such a valuable resource.  Watch for upcoming training dates on our   website or Facebook page.

Our board of directors recently elected new officers to lead Rainbow Fleet in 2017. Becky Roten has been elected board president. Joining her in leading the organization will be Morgan Harris, as president-elect, Matilda Clements, as secretary, and Shelley Deck, as treasurer. Also, Cara Anderson, owner of Sparkle Kids Child Care, has joined our board of directors. We are excited these wonderful community leaders have chosen to dedicate their time and talents to Rainbow Fleet.

We're also pleased to announce that Rainbow Fleet has received two wonderful grants from the Kirkpatrick Foundation and the Insamuch Foundation. Rainbow Fleet will use these wonderful grants to support our Mobile Lending Library as well as aid in the expansion of our innovative early childhood development programs.  A big thanks to Kirkpatrick Foundation and Insamuch Foundation for all their support.

You too can support Rainbow Fleet during this holiday season. If you shop on Amazon, please consider designating our organization as your Amazon Smile nonprofit.

It's been a great year at Rainbow Fleet and we expect 2017 to be even better. Thank you for your support.

Thanks for reading.

Estimadas Proveedoras:
