OHIO'S BUREAU OF WORKERS COMP - OTHER STATES COVERAGE 

The CIB is offereing a course on December 20, 2017 discussing Ohio's BWC Other State Coverage. Ohio worker compensation must be written through the Bureau of Workers Compensation. When a company's employee leave the state of Ohio in the course of his work are they are covered? This course will discuss what is covered, excluded and how coverage can be obtained. Debris Removal Coverage Limitations under the Homeowners Policy

Recent catastrophe events such as fires and hurricanes vividly illustrate the need for adequate property insurance. One area where unforeseen gaps can arise is debris removal. The Insurance Services Office's HO 3 policies pay reasonable expenses to remove the debris of covered property if a covered peril causes loss or damage to covered property. So if a flood causes 100 percent of the damage to the home, the homeowners policy provides no debris removal for this loss since flood is not a covered peril.    Read more

UIM Insurer Can't Benefit from Tortfeasor's Bankruptcy To Deny Coverage
 
What happens when this process is short-circuited by the tortfeasor declaring bankruptcy, which stops the insured from recovering a judgment against the tortfeasor? 
In a typical underinsured motorist (UIM) scenario, the insured sues the person that caused the accident (the tortfeasor) to establish damages. After obtaining a judgment against the tortfeasor, the insured turns to his or her own UIM insurer to pay the portion of the judgment that remains uncovered by the tortfeasor's insurance.

FBI WIDENS INSURANCE FRAUD PROBE OF SOUTH FLORIDA ATTORNEYS

The revelation follows the Sept. 6 arrests of five South Florida personal injury attorneys in an insurance fraud sting led by the Broward Sheriff's Office. Police sources said more arrests are coming as part of a multiagency investigation into alleged insurance fraud by personal injury attorneys.  Read more
