Our Mission:
Supporting lifelong faith formation in the home and congregation.

From the President's Desk

Last week, the executive board of the Christian Education Network of the ELCA met for our annual meeting. We read Scripture, prayed together, planned and envisioned what 2018 might hold. We spent time with the entire board via Zoom, revised the handbook and began discussion of a new project. (More information to come soon!) We closed our time together worshipping with the Lutheran Center staff and visitors; commemorating the Reformation; and sharing our Lord's Supper.

The Reformation is all about change. It is about learning and teaching the faith. It is about communicating the Good News of God's love and grace to all people.

Colossians 2:2 reads...
I want their hearts to be encouraged and united in love, so that they may have all the riches of assured understanding and have the knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ himself...

People ask: What is the purpose of the Christian Education Network of the ELCA? We are people passionate about teaching God's Word, living out our baptismal promises, growing in our faith practices and sharing God's love. We plan. We recruit. We teach. We cry. We pray. We often work long hours. We constantly look for new ways to teach the old, old story.

As part of the Reformation commemoration, I was blessed to sing in a Festival Chorus. Over 180 voices from around the Northwestern Ohio Synod sang of mighty fortresses. As much as I love to sing Luther's hymn, today it was these words that moved me most...

Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.
(Here I Am Lord by Daniel L. Schutte)

Wherever you are, may God's peace grant you Sabbath rest.
May the Holy Spirit encourage and empower you.
May you always remember that you are not alone in your setting.
Together we are better. That is why we continue to be united as the CENetwork of the ELCA.

Blessings on your journey,

Pastor Juli Lejman-Guy, President

Prayer Pause

Giving thanks for all the disciples who have come before us, we gather in your name to give thanks for the work and witness of Martin Luther.  Who, on this day 500 years ago, nailed his 95 theses and began the Protestant Reformation.  Be present with us as we continue to reform.  As we continue to walk the path of discipleship.  As we continue to gather in your name.

Amen.
