Minister Search Team, Sharon Smith
For the past two months, the Minister Search Team has been busy meeting-to set the stage for the minister interview process. We are honored to be representing all of Unity's members and friends, and we are grateful for everyone's support and prayers.
Fortunately, we have had some good resources available to us from Unity World Wide Ministries and from the records of past Unity Search Teams. Letters to applicants, a candidate processing worksheet, questions to ask references, members and friends candidate evaluation forms, resume and interview (phone and face to face) worksheets, and interview questions are just a few of the many items we have developed or revised to our perceived perfection. We still have a few forms to perfect! Fortunately we have all worked well together. Primarily, because we open and close every meeting with prayer-led by one of our team members-and we have been very mindful of and receptive to the "...guidance of the Holy Spirit" throughout the process. Thank You God!
Most recently we have developed a list of proposed phone interview and face to face interview questions that will be forwarded to the Board of Trustees for their input. Please know that your survey results, the job description, interviewing guidelines, and other resources were taken into consideration in the development of the questions.
As soon as the resumes start coming in, Search Team members will screen them and do the initial interviews by phone. References will be checked. Candidates who are approved by the Board for face to face interviews will come, individually, to Unity to be interviewed by the Interview Team-consisting of three Search Team members and three Board of Trustee members. On Sunday they will deliver the morning message and guide us in a meditation. All in attendance will be asked to complete a members & friends candidate evaluation. The ultimate decision, for our new minister, will be made by the Board of Trustees using your input-along with input from the Search and Transition Teams.
Team members have been taking turns providing you with a weekly Sunday update on our activities and leading us in prayer. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please talk with one of us. Once again, we are honored to represent all of you in this process.
It has been such an exciting privilege to work collaboratively with the Search Team members: David Gerard, Marion Standard, Marnie Hersrud, Heather Larsen, and Jeannine Colburn. When you see them, please thank them for their invaluable commitment to this process. A huge thank you is also warranted for Megan, our Administrative Assistant, for her help in typing the final copies of all the pages and pages of needed paperwork.
Please keep Unity Christ Center, the Search Team, the Board of Trustees and our new minister in your continued prayers.
"Spirit lights our way and guides us in ways that are
right and good for Unity Christ Center.
We now let go and let the activity of the Holy Spirit
make the right selection of our new minister.
And we give thanks."
