Congratulations to this week's Heroes Karri and Katie! Praying God's goodness on you both!
A Note to Karri Meyer, 2nd Grade Teacher:
"You are a true community builder! God has placed our school community on your heart and is using you to bless this campus. Thank you for leaning into God's plan to use you. Continue to be led in His wisdom as you build out the Lion Pact program. You are a blessing to our MCS family!
A Note to Katie Niles, Middle School Dean:
"Katie - We all agree that you did an AMAZING job this week at Serve Week. You were a calming presence and modeled flexibility all while reminding us of our purpose -- serving God by serving others. You are such a great addition to ths MCS staff and a great leader. We appreciate you!"

30 Stories for 30 Years & Core Values
MCS Parents in Prayer Ministry (30 Stories for 30 Years)
MCS Parents in Prayer led by Carrie Olson
The legacy of prayer at Mariners Christian School is rich, extending back 30 years to its founding in 1987. The MCS Parents in Prayer ministry has been a powerful and continual source of intercession on behalf of students, families, and teachers ..
...and it is a perfect illustration of our
#1 Core Value "Love for Christ." We give thanks for the past, present, and future parents who devote themselves to prayer on behalf of MCS. Enjoy the
video story.
We invite YOU to join in the 30th year celebration of "God's stories." To view all of our 30 Stories for 30 Years (or to share Your Story), click above or

Core Value #1: Love for Christ
If you haven't had a chance to view the letter or blog post from Mrs. O'Brian highlighting the first of five MCS Core Values "Love for Christ," click here for the letter or view the post here.
Mr. Moore shared about his recent trip to China with our elementary students. He visited some amazing schools, tried some new foods, shared about what the students at MCS are doing, and gave some special talks to parents, teachers, business leaders and government officials. God is opening a door for us to host students from China at MCS for short periods of time. During these visits we will have the amazing opportunity to show and tell these students about His love for them through the person of Jesus Christ!
Family question: What did the students in China say was their favorite part of the school day?
Kindergarten and First Grade Authors
Last Friday our First Grade and Kindergaten classes became published authors of Small Moment Narratives. To celebrate their accomplishments working through the writing process the two grade levels came together to have an Author's Share! Each author was able to read their stories aloud to a small group of their peers and were given compliments and affirmations of their hard work! Keep on writing little authors! MCS is proud of you!
Elementary Field Day & Seventh Grade Serve Week
On Thursday, elementary students participated in their first "Elementary Field Day." This day provided an opportunity for teachers and students to participate in experiences that teach team building, cooperation, and social skills. This was the first of many "Connected Community" student events and activities that will intentionally focus on friendship and the "Whole Child" development. We are grateful to the 7th grade students for helping the elementary teachers and students as part of their "7th Grade Serve Week."
"The work that was done today will leave lasting impressions on our students and our school. As I walked around, I heard teachers' hearts pouring into their students. We were able to walk alongside students and help them navigate through challenges and success." Karri Meyer, Event Coordinator
TK Tanaka Farms Field Trip
TK students culminated their study on Fall and the pumpkin Life Cycle this week by visiting Tanaka Farms! They went on a ride around the farm, petted animals, picked vegetables, found their way through a corn maze, and selected their very own pumpkin to bring home!
It was an incredible day!

8th Grade Dedications Due November 13th
Hello MCS 8th grade parents!
I hope that your child's 8th grade year has been off to a great start - for both YOU and THEM! All of their teachers have been covering your children and your entire family in prayer as you all journey through this eventful year!
The reason that we are reaching out is in regards to your child's 8th grade yearbook dedication. As you most likely already know, MCS always honors our 8th graders by providing them with additional space in the yearbook to help them remember their graduating year. These pages are filled with their individual class photos, a written dedication/affirmation from the student's parents and/or guardians, and four additional photos of each individual student, also provided by the parents and/or guardians.
Please see the
attached document that will provided you with all the additional and necessary details in regards to length of dedication, types of photos to send in, and the dedication billing process.
The due date for all 8th grade dedications/affirmations and the additional photos is Friday, November 13th, 2017.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any additional questions that are not answered in the attached document. We are so blessed to be able to help play a part in creating this year's yearbook and we thank you for your assistance in the creation process. We hope this book is one your children will want to keep for years to come!
The Boys' Flag Football teams have been loving the new turf! Look for a photo gallery of Fall Athletics photos in next week's E-Newsletter, with thanks to Sophia Jones and Jennifer Unkrich!
