Sherman College of Chiropractic hosted the 14th Annual International Research and Philosophy Symposium (IRAPS), a peer-reviewed conference on vertebral subluxation research and the philosophy of chiropractic, in Spartanburg, SC, October 7-8.

Event highlights included presentations by Christopher Kent, D.C., J.D.; Bill Decken, D.C., ’86, D.Ph.CS; Matt McCoy, D.C., M.P.H.; Joel Alcantara, D.C.; and Charmaine Herman, D.C., ’09.

 

The goal of IRAPS is to bring together leaders in philosophy and research as well as practitioners who are centered on the vertebral subluxation practice, to build a stronger academic community worldwide regarding the subluxation model of chiropractic. See our website for more information.

Meet two more of the college’s newest family members, George and Johanna. George William Klimek was born on Tuesday September 12, 2017, weighing 6lbs 14oz, and 20 inches long. Proud parents are Katelyn Niemiec-Klimek, D.C., ’11, and William Klimek of Buffalo, NY. Johanna Cathleen Padden was born March 20, 2017, weighing 9lb 15oz, and 21 inches long. Proud parents are Tiffany Padden, D.C., ’13, and Andrew Padden, D.C., ’14, of Lakeview, MI.

Student Ambassadors Meet

for Quarterly Dinner, Awards

 

The Student Ambassadors had their quarterly meeting on October 3 on campus in the Olsen Building board room with local restaurant Salsarita’s catering. The student ambassadors kick off each new quarter with team building, quarterly awards, and a meeting to prepare for upcoming events and tours.

 

The Showcase Star Award was given to Mike Williams, who also led the team building exercise; the Student Ambassador of the Quarter Award went to Jimmy Craft; and the officer of the Quarter Award was presented to Chris Marrone.

 

The group also welcomed new members Molly Spohn, Katie Gentile, Zach Shaw, Robyn Kirby, Jeanmadí Del Rosario and Angelica Lopez, increasing to 20 members. Thank you, Ambassadors, for your service to Sherman College.

Boghosian Presented with

President's Circle Blazer, Stetzel

Approved for Second Trustee Term

Sherman College President Edwin Cordero, D.C., presented trustee Karlos Boghosian, D.C., of Hartford, CT, with his President’s Circle Regent blazer on Friday, October 6, during the board meeting. Boghosian officially joined the group in February. The President’s Circle, a prestigious group created in 2013, recognizes donors of the college giving at a level of $10,000 per year. Donors in this group are distinguished with a black blazer with an embroidered Sherman crest. In related news, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved a second term for Trustee Kim Stetzel, D.C., during its October 6 meeting. Her second term is October 15, 2017, through October 15, 2021.

Sherman students and faculty members have continued their strong involvement with Carolina Miracle League this fall. The college sponsors a team and has quite a few students and faculty serving as buddies in the league, which embraces the belief that “every child deserves a chance to play baseball.” Learn more and see photos on their Facebook page.
