Community Engagement and Development Program

Is your community looking at starting a new program/project that provides learning opportunities, skill-development and community capacity building? Check out the Community Engagement and Development Program information here . The next application deadline for projects in the months of January, February and March 2018 is November 15, 2017 .
Nominations now open and run until midnight December 4, 2017
All Sask Sport active members (Provincial Sport Organizations) and affiliate members (Districts) can recognize and honour their Athletes, Coaches, Officials and Volunteers for their outstanding achievements, dedication and contributions in Saskatchewan amateur sport during 2017 by nominating them for the 2017 Saskatchewan Sport Awards.
Consider nominating in the Athlete of the Year category, an athlete you previously nominated for Athlete of the Month during 2017.

* Calvin Bruneau from the city of Warman received the Facility Operations Award

* LeRoy Community Centre, Town of LeRoy received the Cecil Nobes Facility Award of Excellence

A commemorative plaque was presented to each and their achievements were shared with attendees during the Awards Gala on October 20th. For more information click here

HERITAGE CONSERVATION WORKSHOPS
Hosted by the Ministry of Parks Culture and Sport in Saskatoon on November 7 th and 8 th , 2017 . These free workshops will provide training in heritage conservation tools that will be of interest to anyone who owns, uses, manages, interprets or regulates heritage buildings and other historic places. There is no registration fee, but pre-registration is required. Seating is limited and will be booked on a first-come/first-serve basis (please note that lunch is not provided).  Details below:

Nominate an exceptional history project in your community for this year’s Governor General's History Award

This online course will increase your familiarity with Standards for Saskatchewan Museums, focusing on applying the standards to your museum. It will also examine the relationship between your institution, standards, and public trust, as well as standards in a provincial, national, and international context.

CANADIAN MUSEUM AWARDS - Call for Submissions
The Canadian Museums Association (CMA) is pleased to announce that nominations are open for the Canadian Museum Awards – a testament to exceptional museum practice in Canada. The Awards recognize professionals, projects and cultural institutions who are leaders and innovators. Submissions from eligible candidates will be accepted until November 15, 2017 . All relevant information is available here .

COACHING CLINICS

COMMUNITY SOFTBALL COACHING CLINIC
*Register by November 10th
Click here for the Community Softball Coaching Clinic registration form. This clinic will be held November 18th and 19th with registration cost of $140. Location is TBA. This clinic is good for all Provincials that do not lead to a Westerns or Canadian Championship
SOFTBALL COMPETITION INTRODUCTION COACHING CLINIC
Softball Saskatchewan will only be taking pre-registration up until November 17, 2017 . A lack of registrations will result in a cancellation of the clinics. Plea se email, fax or mail in your registration form and payment to Softball Saskatchewan. You need to take both clinics in order to proceed to the on-field evaluation to become certified. This coaching clinic is good for Provincials that leads to a Western or Canadian Championship. These clinics will be held in Saskatoon – Weekend 1 – December 2 & 3, 2017 and Weekend 2 – January 20 & 21, 2018.

NCCP Competition Development 
Psychology of Performance, Coaching & Leading Effectively, Leading Drug Free Sport, Managing Conflict, Prevention & Recovery, Developing Athletics Abilities, Performance Planning, Manage a Sport Program and Advanced Practice Planning

Schedules have been posted on the  CAS website  and are open for online registration. Cost: $60 per module.

SAYCW strives to be inclusive of a diversity of voices, and welcomes all! Members contribute through the Steering Committee and/or one of our Working Groups or Committees."
