Football Game Preview: Randolph vs. Roxbury
This week,  Roxbury (2-5) faces off against  Randolph (4-3) on Friday at 7:00 PM. Roxbury continues its travels as it hits the road for the 2nd straight game.  Roxbury ended its game a good deal behind Sparta two weeks ago, falling 34 - 17. The defeat came about despite a quality game from senior Michael Roumes, who racked up 90 yards on eight receptions. As for Randolph, it took its game against West Morris Mendham two weeks ago by a confident 28 - 7 score.

The last time they met, Randolph was the clear winner with a 33 - 7 finish. This time, their match is expected to be much closer since they have similar state rankings (Roxbury at 117th, Randolph at 122nd). Will Roxbury avenge its loss? We'll find out soon enough.  Click here  to see the game preview from MaxPreps.com.

Roxbury VFW Honors Afghanistan War Vet at Open House
Fifty to 100 turned out for Saturday's open house at VFW Post 2833 in Kenvil, an event designed to attract new members.  "The turnout was quite large," said VFW Post 2833 Junior Vice Commander Bob Mederos. He said eight veterans signed up to become new members.

"It's a start," Mederos said. "We have to assess it, evaluate it and come up with conclusions. We didn't get a young crowd, which was what I was really hoping for." Mederos said about $200 was donated to the post during the open house. "That helps," he said. "Right now, our funds are very low ... We are about $2,600 in the red now and we have to do something to sustain us."

During the event, the post dedicated a plaque to U.S. Army Col. Claire Cuccio, who grew up in Roxbury and is now stationed in Hawaii. Click here to read more about this event from Tap Into Roxbury.

New Interest for 'Treetop Adventure' Course in Roxbury
A "treetop adventure course" that would include aerial zip-lines is being eyed for a 45-acre piece of land along Mt. Arlington Road in Ledgewood, according to township officials.  The project was approved five years ago by the Roxbury Zoning Board but was never built. Now "a potential new owner" of the land has approached the township, expressing interest in pursuing the idea, said Roxbury Economic Development Committee (EDC) Chairman Michael Shadiack.

The outdoor adventure park, as approved in 2012, would consist of several "adventure venues" including zip-lines, obstacle courses and other items "mounted on trees near the tree canopy," according to township records. Click here to read more about this new interest from Tap Into Roxbury.

See the final resting place and hear the stories of Lenni Lenape Indians, Revolutionary & Civil War Soldiers, a NJ Governor and others told by costumed characters speaking graveside under the moonlight.

Tours leave continuously.  Bring a flashlight. Only $5.00 per person (includes Cider and Donuts after the tour).  Reservations strongly suggested but walk-ins are welcome.  Call our church office at (973) 584-5238. This is a fundraiser for our 2018 Mission Trip and Youth Activities.

Come explore the hallowed grounds of our historic church which served as a hospital for soldiers during the Revolutionary War (General George Washington came to visit) and where our 8th President Martin Van Buren came to worship with NJ Governor Mahlon Dickerson. First Presbyterian Church is a rare historic gem right here in the heart of Roxbury - come experience history with us! Click here to read more coverage from Tap Into Roxbury.
