POPE JOHN PAUL II REGIONAL CATHOLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
School Celebrates Living Rosary
October is the month of the Holy Rosary and praying the Living Rosary is an annual tradition for the students at PJP II School. Seventh and eighth graders led the ceremony which took place at St. Peter Church. PreK and Kinder students prayed a shortened version of the Living Rosary which took place in the school's Prayer room.

Student Council Installed ~ New Logo Unveiled

Student Council President Liam B. and Vice President Mackenzie F. unveil the school's new Logo.

Students who were recently elected to serve on this year's Student Council were installed in a ceremony at St. Peter Church. Student Council officers, commissioners, class representatives and ambassadors received an official pin blessed by Father Brennan, primary celebrant for the mass.  The students pledged to proudly serve the school and parish communities in which they live.
Following the service, the new school logo was unveiled. Mrs. Kerins explained the symbolism incorporated into the logo which was designed by Art teacher, Mrs. Fader.  The design was modeled after the school's patron saint, St. Pope John Paul II, whose papal crest contained an off-center cross and the letter "M" representing his devotion to the Blessed Mother. In addition, the "M"is reflective of the devotion and commitment of our IHM Sisters who served our school community for 113 years. The 3 stars represent our three partner parishes: St. Peter, Our Lady of the Rosary and St. Joseph in Coatesville. Stars were also part of Coatesville Catholic's (CACES) logo. The flame represents knowledge and hope. The shield portrays the school's CYO moniker, the Saints, who defended themselves during battle. Finally, the school colors maroon and white were integrated and complemented with the color blue representing the three colors in the school uniform. What a beautiful logo to represent our school community!

Longwood Selects PJP to Decorate Tree
During June, Art teacher Mrs. Fader submitted designs for the Longwood Gardens Children's Christmas Tree display and received notification over the summer that the school had been selected. Mrs. Fader added, "this is a highly coveted and difficult competition for only 13 trees representing schools from as far away as Delaware. The 5th, 6th, and 7th graders will make the garland, tree topper and 100 ornaments in the 2017 theme colors of silver, gold, white and red. The ornaments will be created with all recycled materials." The display will be open during the holidays from November 27th to January 7th, 2018. With the grand re-opening of the main fountains, the display will undoubtedly draw a record number of visitors. What a wonderful honor for PJP II School students to be a part of this incredible opportunity at Longwood Gardens!  Many thanks to Mrs. Fader for all her work with this project and the Art program.

Pumpkin Character Contest
Congratulations to winners of this year's Pumpkin Character Contest. Fourth and Fifth graders submitted pumpkins representing a fictional character or a biography/real person. All of the pumpkins were truly amazing! Thanks to Mrs. Powell, Librarian, for coordinating this annual event.
