Raising Godly leaders for a country in need
October  2017
Rose is one of our brightest young ladies in the sponsorship program. She attends a very good secondary school where they only take those with the highest of marks from primary school. I remember so well when we first started helping her she was really bad off. She came faithfully to AWANA and Sunday school . It w as not long before she took Jesus as her Lord and Savior. When she was added to the waiting list for sponsor ship s he was all smiles and so happy.
Rose lost her fat her long ago and her widowed mother is sick and having a really rough time surviving and feeding the children. She has no income at all and canno t do much. They stay with the g randmother of Rose, who is very old and not well either. Rose helps her mother a lot when she is home or not in school. She had been trying to go to school but was never able to get all the needed mat erials for books or uniform and other requirements.

Rose sticks out for me so much at Christmas time because I remember her first Christmas as a sponsored child with HUM. She received a new outfit and some other things that she desperately needed. She literally got down on her knees and began to thank us and thank God and began to cry. I asked her why she was crying and she said she had never had a Christmas present before and never owned a new dr ess or outfit of any kind . In the package was also underwear - three pairs, a half slip, deodorant, bathing soap, lotion and other things that she needed. I never forgot her tears.

It is so wonderful to see these children get something for Christmas, something they need, from their sponsors or another donor. It is heart wrenching to know that many of them do not even wear underwear because they do not have it and their families cannot afford it. It does not stop there as we give them a Christma s dinner for the entire family , some their own impoverished family and for others it is extended family or other guardians. Each child receives two kilos of beef together with 3 kilos of rice, 3 kilos of beans, 3 kilos of posha (corn fl our), 2 kilos of sugar and 2 large bars of w ashing soap for their clothes. When Rose found that out, she again went to her knees in tears and could not believe it. She said "I give thanks to the Lord above for giving me a sponsor and for caring for me." Her facial expressions were beyond words, but I will never forget.   I pray you will consider helping a child this year , either your sponsored child or other children served by HUM, to receive their Christmas food basket and gifts for only a one time gift of $35 and thank you.
God bless you,
Katherine

Thanks to special friends of HUM and Orphan's Heart we just started construction on our third building for Genesis Nursery & Primary School. We are excited to have it completed by next year's second term in May as we are already bursting at the seams and will be adding the last and final grade to the school in January.

As the year comes to an end we ask that you all remember HUM in your yearend giving considerations. We always have needs in our ministry funds and for Christmas. We also need help to cover extra fees and expenses for our higher education students *$10,000) as well as to furnish this last school building ($10,000) and fully fund a home for Melanie, Elizabeth & Laura (approx.. $26,000). We so appreciate your faithfulness to be a part of this ministry as we reach the community of Kamonkoli for Christ. You are making a difference! Thank You!!!

Christmas
is on its way

Here is one of our HUM families helped through sponsorship and our special Christmas celebration and gifts.   Please join us in blessing these families this Christmas and showing them the love of Jesus.   Just $35 will provide a family a special Christmas meal, clothing, food & hygiene supplies to take them into the new year. Provide this for your sponsored child or our underfunded and waiting children. Because Katherine and Melanie's baggage space is very limited we prefer you help your child in this way rather than send things to our U.S. office for them to take. However cards are welcome before November 24.  Click "Donate" at our website www.hineskids.org or text "hum" to 41444 or give by mail with the giving coupon in this letter. We pray that you have a blessed Thanksgiving & Christmas as well.! We had a wonderful time showing you all that God is doing in Uganda through HUM.
Thank You

Fatuma     Age: 9  Grade: 1
Fatuma is settling in with her very poor grandparents after frequent moves.  She needs a sponsor at $30/mo.  Click Here  to see her story and sponsor her.

Ivan   Age: 19
Grade: Vocational Studies
Ivan loves the Lord and helps at our AWANA program.  He was not sponsored at a younger age, but because we observed his efforts to work during holidays to take himself to school we secured a sponsor to help with his school fees last year in order  to allow him to receive vocational training as a welder.  This sponsor was unable to continue their help and we are seeking a new sponsor of $60/mo. to help Ivan to continue in his training.  Click here t o sponsor Ivan.
