CBF pastors sign statement condemning racism and recommit to pursuing racial justice
More than 100 Cooperative Baptist Fellowship pastors from across the United States have signed a statement by CBF today condemning racism, white supremacy and bigotry and committing to confront "any form of racism we
encounter - individual and systemic." The letter, titled "A Statement Concerning Racism in our Nation," emphasizes that "silence is an affront to the Gospel."
"This moment requires more from us as churches and as a nation," the statement says. "As Dr. King reminds us, the greatest tragedy is not the 'strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.' Silence is not an option. Silence is not Christian. Silence is an affront to the Gospel. We will not be silent."
