ALASKA SYNOD NEWS
Hear the good news.
In her December column in Living Lutheran, Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton reflects on Matthew 24:36-44, reminding us that through a helpless baby, God was announcing the end of a world "in bondage to sin and death, a world that believes in a god of 'what have you done for me lately?' " Read her column here.  The Spanish translated version is here.
From the Bishop
Retired Pastor Ted Conter is popular for pulpit supply in the Anchorage area. He shares the following questions for Advent:
5 Questions for Advent in preparation for Christmas
1. What is important this Advent?
Key word is "this," not last year or next year.
2. What do I NOT need to do this Advent?
Much of our behavior was learned years ago, much of it has no meaning for us, but we do it anyway.  Do I need to do all the activities others say I should?
3.  What do I want from the month of December?
4.  What do I want from Advent?
For some it is a silly question.  Advent is a forgotten season.
5.  What do I need to do to be comfortable with
Christ in my home this Christmas?
I can't answer for you, I'm still working on my own answers.
