Live WaterSmart by Adjusting Irrigation Systems When it's Time to "Fall Back"

When daylight saving time ends on November 5, residents can take action to save water in the months ahead by remembering to adjust their irrigation systems when they adjust other clocks.

"Adjusting irrigation is an easy way to Live WaterSmart, since landscapes need less water as the days get shorter and cooler," said Water Authority Water Resources Manager Dana Friehauf.

Other water-saving practices for the months ahead include turning off irrigation systems when rainstorms are predicted and leaving them off for a least a week after significant rainfall. Also, installing rain barrels or cisterns helps capture stormwater from roofs and store it for future irrigation use.

Water Authority Hosts Tour of Key Water Facilities for Imperial Valley Representatives

Representatives from some of the Imperial Valley's leading agencies and organizations joined Water Authority staff and Board members on a day long tour of San Diego County water facilities on October 19. The Water Authority and Imperial Irrigation District are long-term partners in the nation's largest agriculture-to-urban water conservation and transfer agreement. Periodic meetings and tours promote collaboration by allowing people from Imperial and San Diego counties to continue building relationships.
