Dear Library Learner,
Welcome to our Literacy newsletter, bringing you o ur latest literacy programs, resources, and teaching initiatives at Schaumburg Township District Library and in the wider community.

Citizenship Preparation Class
Registration begins Saturday January 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at our Hoffman Estates Branch (1550 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates)

This FREE class meets to practice reading and writing in English, learn how to answer citizenship questions from the N-400 application, and to discuss obstacles and challenges to becoming a U.S. citizen.

Bring your Green Card to the first class to register.

Read to Learn Returns in January!
Registration begins Monday January 23, 2017 at 9:30a.m. 

The District 214 Community Education Read to Learn Adult Literacy/Volunteer program offers free literacy tutoring to eligible adult learners. Each semester, trained volunteer tutors implement individualized lessons plans to English speaking adult students in a one-to-one instructional setting. Free. Monday mornings.

To register go to the first class on January 23rd. 2nd Floor meeting room.

ESL Classes 2017
New Library class begins February 2017.

Lower/Intermediate level only (NOT beginners or advanced)
Monday and Wednesday afternoons 12:30-3:30 p.m. 
Register at the class on either: Monday February 6th or Wednesday February 8th at 12:30.

Beginner's ESL Computer Class
Computer-assisted learning for beginners 
 
Looking for a place to start? Try our  teacher-assisted computer class for beginner-level students with little or no knowledge of English. Covers basic survival English, and aspects of everyday life in more detail.

We ask that attendees be able to follow basic instruction and work on a computer.

Starts Monday, December 5. DROP IN. No registration. Free. Library Computer Lab second Floor. Monday mornings between 9:30 and 11:45.
