  :

As we welcome the month of December, we also get ready to light the second candle on our Advent wreath. The students have been learning about the Advent season and how we prepare for the birth of Jesus.

December is always a busy month at school. Today your child will bring home our "Letter for Intent to Re-enroll" for the next school year. This is not a binding form and requires no registration fees but helps us to forecast our availability for new students next year. We have already had over 50 inquiries for the next school year! Please complete this form and return it to school before December 23rd.

Thank you to all the parents who will be bringing their child(ren) to the Wilbraham Country Club on Sunday to sing for the Catholic Women's Club. This was a nice invitation from the Club and a great way to introduce St. Michael's Academy to an audience that might not be familiar with our school. Please remember to have your child(ren) wear their uniforms.

Enjoy a nice weekend.

Peace,

Ann E. Dougal
Principal

From  the Classroom of Mrs. Moskal - Kindergarten

        Come, Lord Jesus!

The Kindergarten students have been participating in Advent activities this past week. We have been learning that the Church year begins with Advent, which began last Sunday.  Advent is the season when we prepare to celebrate Jesus's birthday. It is a time of waiting. We have discussed how difficult it can be to wait whether it is in line, for our birthday, a holiday, or when someone special is coming to visit. One of our activities is our Advent calendar. Every day we open up a door of our Advent calendar which reveals another part of the Christmas story.

Each Sunday in Advent we light one candle on our Advent wreath. The Son of God is the Light of the World, and the candles on the wreath represent this light overcoming darkness. There are three purple candles and one pink candle.

The greatest gift God gave us is Jesus, his Son. Jesus taught people ways we should act to be close to God- to be kind to others, to love God, and to love other people. We can express our thanks by giving of ourselves to family, friends, and those in need.  When the kindergartners demonstrate that they are being kind to others by exhibiting random acts of kindness towards their classmates and members of the St. Michael's Academy community, they will add straw to the manger in preparation for the birth of the Christ Child.  Let us prepare our hearts for you to come, Lord Jesus.

Crime Scene Investigation Continues

The Investigation Continues

The search for the St. Michael's Academy assailant continues as the students fingerprinted possible suspects this week. They will use these fingerprints to compare to prints lifted from the scene of the crime. Hmmmm.....who do you think committed the crime?  Stayed tuned!

The Authors Are Hard At Work in Grade 1

"What did you do for Thanksgiving?"  This is a common question placed before the students as they drag themselves back into the classroom from their five days of family fun time.  This past Monday, Miss. Collins' first grade class had to respond to that Thanksgiving question before they even had a chance to get back into the school routine.  Their responses were written independently with their only help being their ability to sound out words, the use of their "Word Books" (which also requires sounding out those troublesome words), and the directions in front of them.

Check out the Student Writing Gallery by clicking here. Our young students are on their way to becoming thoughtful writers.

Yearbook News

Dear Parents and Friends:

Again this year we will be using the "ReplayIt" app to share photos with the yearbook committee. The app can be downloaded at the App Store or Google Play. Once downloaded you will need to search for our school using St Michaels Academy with no punctuation. Once you locate our school you can view and share photos with us. You will also be able to view a stream of photos that others have already shared.

Prayer Corner

St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us!

We pray for all St. Michael's Academy students, families, faculty, and staff, and their special intentions.

Thomas Garde
Linda Hammarstrom
Mr.and Mrs. Jonathan Hall
Josephine Pellgrini
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Angelica
Carol Brown

And we pray in a special way for our recently departed:

Maria Spadoni

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Please remember to keep Miss Brown in your prayers during this difficult time for her. She will be taking an indefinite medical leave of absence.

Our prayers continue to be with Mr. Rancitelli, who is undergoing treatment for a cancer recurrence. We also ask that you keep Mrs. Rancitelli in your prayers as well. She recently broke both ankles and her wrist in a bad fall. Each week, a different homeroom sends him cards. If your family would like to send a card, please send it to school with your child, clearly marked for Mr. Rancitelli. His family has set up a blog to write about this experience.   Click here  to read the blog.
