Ben's Buzz:

December 7, 2016

I can not believe it is the first week of December already!  This school year is flying by!  Please join me in  congratulating  the 6-8th grade students who received a Character in Action award at last week's assembly.  We are so proud of the character they are displaying throughout their school day. They are great role models for our younger students.

Over the holiday break you should have received a letter from the Board of Trustees asking for your generous support of our Annual Appeal

We realize that there are frequent fundraising requests placed on behalf of the school, however this particular request is specifically focused on the BFCCPS technology plan and will fund the purchase of additional Chromebooks, iPads and improved WiFi connectivity.  As a non-profit organization your donations are tax deductible.

Weekly drawings will be held each Friday during the month of December, so the earlier you're able to donate, the more chances you will have to win. Congratulations to the Steel Family who won the first raffle, they will enjoy tickets for a family of four to the Franklin Performing Arts Company production of "Humbug."   We don't forget that we have been given TWO Chromebooks  from our generous technology partners - you'll earn a chance at winning one of the Chromebooks for each donation of $100 to the annual appeal. We thank you in advance for your generosity to this year's campaign.

We are working together to make the holidays a little brighter for families in our community. Please don't forget that all Santa Foundation gifts should be delivered to the school no later than THURSDAY, DEC 08, 2016

Each item needs to be gift wrapped and labeled with the Family #, item and person's gender/age. (ex: FAMILY #117 PRINCESS BARBIE for 3 yr old girl.)  The gifts should be brought into the class and placed in the box labeled SANTA FOUNDATION.  If your class list is full but you'd still like to contribute please contact Mrs. Basile,Ms. Fallon or Ms. Martin who would be happy to send a link to a wish list with wishes that have not yet been fulfilled. Thank You!

As a reminder, BFCCPS has an  extended absence policy  which indicates that extended absences for non-medical reasons for more than 10 consecutive school days will not be approved and will result in dis-enrollment from BFCCPS unless caused by exceptional and unavoidable circumstances, such as a natural disaster, serious accident, or other situation deemed exceptional and unavoidable by the HOS.

Have a great rest of the week!

Enrollment

Applications now available for 2017-2018 School Year.

If you have students who are eligible for Kindergarten in the 2017-2018 school year it is now time to place their application for enrollment! Also, if you have students who are currently on the waiting list for grades K-8 you  must reaffirm your desire for enrollment at BFCCPS with a new  application.  We also hope that you will tell your friends and neighbors who might have interest in joining us at BFCCPS!

  • Look or listen for "FRANKLIN PUBLIC SCHOOLS" on local radio and TV. BFCCPS follows the cancellation and delays of the Franklin Public Schools in most cases.
    • TV Stations: Channels 25(Fox), 4 (WBZ), 5 (WCVB), 7(WHDH) and 10 (WJAR NBC)-RI
    • Radio: WBZ (1030 AM), WMRC (1490 AM)
    • Online (TV station websites):  WBZ (CBS) | WCVB (ABC) | WFXT (FOX) | WHDH (NBC)

Grades 5 - 8 will hold the annual Social Studies Fair on Friday, December 16th from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.  Families are encouraged to attend and see the fruits of their students' labor.

Join the PCO for a fun filled family night of crafting to kick off the holiday season this Friday 12/9 from 6-8pm in the BFCCPS auditorium.  We will have plenty of holiday and winter themed crafts to choose from for all age ranges.

Please RSVP so we can plan the crafts accordingly!  Hope to see you there!   Please click here to RSVP

Announcements:

We are thrilled to announce that the BFCCPS Ski Club is officially a go for this season! We have reached the minimum number of required participants to run the activity, but have room for even more students to sign up. The club is being supervised by Mrs. Kovacs and Ms. Brunelle and offers round trip transportation by bus to Wachusett Mountain on Tuesday afternoons. Spaces are still available Click to download enrollment packet.

The Great Real Food Campaign, in collaboration with the Hockomock Area YMCA is holding a contest where students are asked to think about the difference between Real Food and the easy-to-reach for, processed treats.

Special posters (8 1/2 x 11) are available in the front office for students to draw, color and use words in an artistic manner to convey this message.  The overall winner will get a school visit from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Author Jeff Kinney.  One winner from each school district will win a set of signed Wimpy Kid Books. The winners, along with a parent and school representative, will be invited to a Get Real celebration with local celebrities, including Jeff Kinney, in early April at An Unlikely Story bookstore in Plainville, MA. Please contact Mrs. Schwab with any questions.

Capstone Corner:

Patrick D is having a  donation drive for homeless veterans.  I chose this topic because Veterans deserve better when they come back from service instead of being out on the street. The donation drive will be held 11/28 - 12/9.  They are looking for: jackets, hats, booths, gloves, pants, wool socks, scarves, ear muffs. Learn more on this flyer.

For his Capstone Project Matthew R. will be working for St. Vincent de Paul to collect food for the homeless. Matthew will hold a donation drive at school from December 12 through December 16th. Please find a list of needed items on this flyer.
