SAINTS PETER & PAUL SCHOOL

KATHY MORAN
VOTE EARLY & VOTE OFTEN

People often say 'There is nothing more important than family.' The term family, however, means more than just those who are joined to us by blood. It also signifies a close friendship or relationship we've forged and developed with someone who might be a colleague at work, a neighbor down the street, or someone whom we see weekly when worshipping.

Kathy Moran is a former Saints Peter and Paul School parent, who along with her husband, Tom, have graduated three daughters from our school.....Kelly '08, Katie '10, and Erin'13. As such, she is forever considered to be a part of the Saints Peter and Paul School family.

From the time the girls were able to join the school band, Kathy was the pre-eminent parent leader for our band program and stayed active in assisting former director Rene' Rosas even after her youngest daughter went on to Naperville Central High School. She was also involved with our sports program, remains active in the Naperville Municipal Band and has continued her parish ministry of washing altar server and priest garments.

Eight years ago, Kathy's life was forever altered when she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Despite numerous hospitalizations, treatments, doctor visits, and the physical, mental, and financial toll caused by her health, her spirits remain high. This is due, in large part, to the love of her nuclear family, her extended family, and her strong faith life.

The Morans were dealt another blow recently when Tom lost his job several months ago. After months of unemployment, he is now selling insurance and working on commission. Compounding matters, the Moran car is 16,000 miles short of hitting 200,000 on the odometer.

Some of her closest SSPP school friends heard of a contest being sponsored by Homewood Chevy Cares.com and entered her name as a worthy candidate. Through their generosity, Homewood Chevy will be providing a brand new car to one of the five worthy finalists who advanced to the final round of voting. Tom and Kathy simply don't have the finances to acquire a new car.

Voting runs through December 21 and can be done multiple times in one day by one person by using home wifi, work wifi, public wifi, cellular network, wifi networks college students are using, and by powering phone off and on to obtain a new IP address.  The dealer was alerted as to what seemed like cheating but they said it's one vote per IP address daily and so it is not cheating.

She needs your vote and you can do so by clicking here:    http://www.homewoodchevycares.com/contest_entries/blow-away-murphys-cloud/

Go to the Homewood Chevy website to catch a video about Kathy's journey and learn how much your daily input can help her cause. As they say in Chicago, vote early and vote often.

SSPP Trivia

When our school was founded in 1853....

....The Santa Claus we all know and love today - that big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard - didn't look that way. In fact, prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was displayed as a small elf-like figure. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he's known for today.
