Early-Registration Deadline Approaching
for National Conference
December 15 Deadline for Discount Registration, Abstracts
December 15 is the deadline for early registration for LA17, our national conference in Los Angeles, CA, April 20-22, 2017. The 3-day symposium will bring together medical professionals in fields ranging from cardiology and hematology to pharmacy and family medicine for discussions on current research and evidence-based practices in the field of antithrombotic therapy.
Presentation topics include anticoagulation clinics in the future, DOACs in special populations, bridging updates, safe transitions of care, reversal agents, and more.
In addition to presentations by leading experts, the conference will feature small, topic-specific master classes,
a "meet the expert" breakfast, poster session and industry exhibits. The deadline for abstracts for the poster session -- including encore presentations, case studies and other research -- is also December 15.

The AC Forum, in collaboration with Boston University School of Medicine and IPRO, is offering free, CME/CE-certified in-hospital grand rounds presentations at medical facilities around the country.
"The ABC's of Anticoagulation and Reversal: Do you Know Your DOACs?" is a program designed to address questions surrounding handling bleeding complications in the changing landscape of anticoagulant therapies. The goal is to provide medical professionals with a comprehensive update and strategy for the reversal of oral anticoagulants in order to deliver the best possible care.

New Publishing Opportunities For AC Forum Members
The Anticoagulation Forum, in collaboration with the Journal of Thrombosis and Thrombolysis, is pleased to offer more publication opportunities for its community. Members are encouraged to submit original research and reviews within related areas of thrombosis, hemostasis, and vascular disease. Submissions will undergo an expedited peer-review process by the Journal's editorial team and, if accepted, will be featured in a special section of the Journal. Additionally, all authors who publish in the Journal of Thrombosis and Thrombolysis will receive a shareable link to a view-only version of their article. Submissions are welcome throughout the year by selecting the article type "Anticoagulation Forum" in Editorial Manager.

Physicians Wanted for DOAC Reversal Survey -- Ottawa Blood Disease Centre
The Ottawa Blood Disease Centre is conducting a survey on the evaluation and management of DOAC-associated life-threatening bleeding. Physicians are asked to participate in a brief survey using the link below:
The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete, and will include questions regarding demographic information, knowledge of DOAC pharmacokinetics and laboratory assessment of DOAC anticoagulation status, knowledge surrounding the assessment and management of DOAC-associated life-threatening bleeding, as well as opinions surrounding DOAC-associated life-threatening bleeding.

NATF Offers Online and In-Person
Support Group for VTE
As part of its monthly online VTE support group, the North American Thrombosis Forum (NATF) will host an online chat with cardiologist and vascular medicine specialist Dr. Geoff Barnes on January 18, 2017. The support group is for patients diagnosed with PE or DVT to share common concerns, discuss physical and psychological obstacles and learn more about their disease. Patients from around the country can call in during the online chat.
In addition, NATF will host its annual in-person patient educational program in Boston on April 13, 2017. In this program four experts in the field of thrombosis medicine will share updates including innovative ways to prevent and treat diabetes and metabolic syndrome, whether a simple blood test can predict your risk of developing cardiovascular disease, new medications to lower cholesterol, and more.

HTRS/Novo Nordisk Offer Clinical Fellowship Awards in Hemophilia and Rare Bleeding Disorders
The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society (HTRS) and Novo Nordisk Inc. have announced the availability of two awards in 2017 to support mentored clinical fellowships focused on hemophilia and other rare bleeding disorders. The awards are for the academic year beginning July 1, 2017. Applications are due Monday, January 16, 2017.
