WAYS TO GIVE TO JFS; LET ME COUNT THE WAYS
|
Jewish Family Service has a 53 year history of providing essential social services to the Jewish community and the Harrisburg community at-large. Our revenues sources include private insurance, out-of-pocket fees for service, grants, contracts, and generous donations from loyal supporters like you. With this in mind, we want to share a short list of various ways you can support the important work we do.
1.
Tree of Life - purchase leaves on the wall plaque in our lobby to celebrate, honor and memorialize important occasions and individuals in your life. Leaves can be purchased in denominations of $250, $500, $750 and $1,000.
2.
Tribute Cards - please acknowledge special occasions and people by purchasing beautiful note cards through JFS.
Minimum donation is $7 if picked up or $7.50 if mailed.
3.
Annual Friends Contributions - each year we conduct a fund-raising campaign on behalf of JFS. We recently launched our 2017 campaign. Get our campaign off to a great start by giving early and qualifying for a deduction in CY 2016.
4.
JFS Legacy Campaign - consider signing a letter of intent naming JFS as a recipient of a gift from your will, trust, retirement account or life insurance policy. Your legacy gift will ensure the future well-being of our community and the many people we serve.
5.
United Way Designations - when you make your gift to the annual United Way Campaign, please designate JFS by including our account number, 7022, on your pledge form.
6.
In-kind Donations - consider initiating a community service project for your family to participate in through JFS when celebrating a bar or bat mitzvah.
For more information on any of these giving opportunities, please call our business office at (717) 233-1681 or email
Barry Stein, our Executive Director. Check the donate tab on the
website for more in-depth descriptions on each way to give.

SILVER ACADEMY LENDS A HELPING HAND
The Silver Academy hosted a Thanksgiving Food Drive on behalf of Jewish Family Service for the second year in a row. Students and teachers brought in over 200 items that were distributed in Thanksgiving care packages.
Trimmings like
fruit, vegetables, canned and boxed potatoes accompanied turkey deliveries for Thanksgiving care packages distributed by the
Kosher Food Pantry for those in need of a helping hand.
We appreciate the generosity from the Silver Academy.
Next week they will be collecting winter clothing (scarves, hats, and gloves) for us as well.

JFS WELCOMES LESLIE WIENER TO THE COMMUNITY LIAISON POSITION WITH THE SENIORLINKS TEAM!
Leslie comes to us with a strong background in community relations and marketing. Prior to coming to JFS, Leslie worked for 6 years as the Director of Outreach and Engagement at the Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg. Her new position, which is also new to the agency, will focus on reaching out to the community to provide awareness and education about the SeniorLinks care management program.
Our care management is focused on assisting area seniors in staying independent and healthy, by supporting them and their families in navigating the sometimes overwhelming world of services. We provide assessment, monitoring, advocacy and coordination of care at every stage of the aging process, in a confidential and dignified setting.
Leslie will be identifying and building relationships with professionals and institutions in the area that can best help us reach the people that will benefit the most from this essential service. In addition, she will be reaching out directly to prospective clients and their care giving families to raise awareness of the service. She is already working diligently to develop these contacts and we look forward to her success in the new position.
