CARING CONNECTIONS
GIFTS NEEDED!
Collections: November 28 - December 9
With only a few days remaining until we invited families to receive gifts this holiday season, we are drastically below our numbers from the past. Please consider donating gifts, gift cards, gas cards, or other items that will support others in need this holiday season. We appreciate your support and could not do it without you!

If you are a family in need this holiday season, please call Ann Varpness 556-6905 or email [email protected] to schedule a time to come in and shop.

Art Adventure Needs your HELP!
If you love art and would like to explore works of art from the Minneapolis Institute of Art with kids at Clover Ridge, consider becoming an Art Adventure volunteer for your child's classroom! Art Adventure brings reproductions of museum art pieces into the classroom to discuss with students. The program runs throughout February and March and the schedule is flexible. No prior experience or art history knowledge is needed and training is provided by MIA in January.

Here is a short video from MIA about the program
Please contact Katie Lenius at
[email protected] if you are interested in becoming an Art Adventure Volunteer.

Currently these are the classrooms who don't yet have a volunteer:

2nd gr: Maravigli, Westcott
3rd gr: Kallman, Miklya, Mueller, Peterson
4th gr: Grundeen, Miller

If we get more than one volunteer per class sometimes people partner up.

Boundary Changes Next Year
As you know, many students from CRE will be affected by boundary changes next year.  We are looking to determine enrollment numbers early this year to assist with staffing.  Below are some important dates and links that should be reviewed if you have an incoming Kindergarten Student or requesting an intra-district transfer.

Kindergarten Registration Deadline is Fast Approaching
Kindergarten registration (or La Academia or Kinder Academy special K program registration) is due by January 15.  You can find registration information at this website.... Kindergarten Registration

Boundary Changing?  Notify District About your Desire to Grandfather to Stay at Current Elementary or Go to New Boundary School
Grandfather requests or confirmation of attending new school boundary due by January 17.
  • Grandfather requests can be completed in Parent portal.
Intra-district transfer requests are due by January 17.  Information available at this website.....

Culture Night
January 26, 6:00p.m. - 8:00p.m.
This annual event is great for the entire community but we can't do it without your help! Please see the attached flyer seeking support for this event. We will have cultural presentations and gallery walks, ethnic food tasting, and a fashion show celebrating the multiple cultures represented in our school! Click here for more details.

Headphones
With the increase in technology throughout the school day, we are encouraging students to bring their own pair of earbuds or headphones to keep at school or in their backpack. This is more sanitary than sharing these tools for learning. If a student does not have access to headphones, some are available here at school.

Yearbooks
We moved to a new company to produce our yearbooks last year and under the guidance of Tara Dorn, they were fabulous! More information will be coming out later in the year. These would make great holiday gifts.

From the Health Office
All month long, our well being focus has been on vital topic of Emotional Wellbeing. People who are emotionally healthy are in control of their emotions and their behavior. They are able to handle life's challenges, build strong relationships and recover from setbacks. We invite you to explore this topic for yourself and your children. Our staff is learning about district resources available and exploring topics like humor and mindfulness. Emotional wellbeing is every bit as important as our physical health. Click here for much more.               Improving Emotional Health

Lost and Found
With the cooler temps, comes lost sweatshirts and jackets!  Many have been left behind and our lost and found is filling up quickly. As of  today we have 114 sweatshirts and jackets not including any of the other items.  Please check our Lost and Found outside the computer lab in the main hallway next time you are here. Please label your child's clothing (at least initials) as often times we are able to return them. Unclaimed clothing will be donated during the Winter Break.
Chromebooks and Downloads
As more and more students are receiving one to one devices, it is important to remember that "the use of District 112 technology must be in support of learning".  The Chromebooks provide access to teacher webpages, student work, and resources at any time.  They are a great tool in learning.  It is strongly encouraged for students to "make it their own", but there needs to be caution when doing so.  Downloading apps, games, and extensions does effect the functioning of the Chromebook.  Often times when students come to school and their device doesn't work, once these type of items are removed the machine works as expected.  Please continue to monitor your student's Chromebook and the items downloaded to it.  Chromebooks are a wonderful aide in learning for all students.  Thank you for helping to make sure the device works properly.

Just a reminder, District 112 does offer optional insurance to help offset the cost of repair if needed.  Please follow this link to learn more about it and what exactly if covers.  http://connexion.district112.org/protection-plan/
