This Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent!  We hope you will join us as we begin our Advent Season preparing for the coming of the Christ Child!

At the Annual Meeting we handed out some surveys, to get opinions and suggestions.  See the article below for more information and a link to download the survey.

Our Cookie Bake is just around the corner on December 10! Hope you can join us!

This weeks readings and question of the week:
Take time to mediate on God's word and prepare for worship this Sunday.  And as you meditate on them, consider the  Question of the Week:
What is one concrete, "peaceable" thing I can do this week to bring a glimpse of Isaiah's "Peaceable Kingdom" to my little corner of the world?

Matthew 3:1-12

Romans 15:4-6
Sisters and brothers:
Whatever was written previously was written for our instruction, that by endurance and by the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
May the God of endurance and encouragement
grant you to think in harmony with one another,
in keeping with Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

v4 Paul was encouraging his readers not to neglect the things that were written before hand, the Old Testament, because in its pages the strong would learn patience in dealing with their weak brethren and be comforted in refraining from their liberties for the good of the others. With these two lessons firmly planted in their hearts they could then have hope.
And what was their hope? For the answer look at vv. 5-6, "Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be likeminded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." In the context of the passage their hope was that both the strong and the weak have unity of mind (i.e. be likeminded, with one mind) and glorify the Father together.
COOKIE BAKE - December 10 -
6:00 pm - Pine Room

Our annual cookie bake is always a GREAT time.  So get your recipes ready and make plans to join us on Saturday, December 10.

Pre-make your dough and bring any toppings you need. We will then work together to bake the cookies, while we share in some food (PIZZA!), music, and games.    So many cookies to trade and share that you'll be all set for Christmas!

Christmas Eve Recital
Do you sing?  Do you play an instrument?
Or know someone who does?
We are currently seeking musicians who would like to be a part of our Christmas Eve Recital.  This will start at 11:30 pm ahead of the candlelight service.  We need musicians to simply play or sing one song.
If interested please see any board member.
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU

Do you have opinions? Suggestions?

The board is always seeking feedback on liturgy, ministries, how we are communicating, and more.
But we also understand that not everyone likes to talk face to face or can come to a board meeting.   So we have a survey that you can download, complete, and then turn in anonymously (so don't put your name on it).
These were handed out at the Annual Meeting and have also been available at each the service.  But if you didn't get one yet, you can download it using the link below.

Please tear off  the last page.  This page is about how you can volunteer and maybe get involved in other areas of All Souls.  So with the last page - tear it off and please put your name on it, so we can contact you.

Please return all surveys and ministry forms by Christmas Eve.  THANK YOU!

question  of the week
What "work of darkness" do I need to throw off?  What "armor of light" do I need to put on to ensure that I am "awake" and "prepared" for the hour of the Lord's coming?
