Northfield Public Schools implement kindergarten readiness assessment

One of the first benchmarks on the Northfield Promise cradle-to-career continuum is “Every Northfield child will be ready for kindergarten.” Until this point, however, it has been difficult to assess how we as a community are doing on this important measure.

This year, the Northfield Public Schools were selected by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) to participate in a pilot initiative designed to look at the kindergarten readiness of our community’s children. Read more

U.S. Senator Al Franken spoke this month at the state's 50-year VISTA celebration.  In talking about the impact of national service programs in Minnesota communities, Senator Franken went into detail about the Northfield TORCH initiative and its impact in helping to address the graduation gap in Northfield.
