Principal Notes

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow's Halloween celebrations begin at 10 am with the class parties followed by the parade at 11:15.  Parents, grandparents, and younger siblings are invited to attend the parade which takes place in the schoolyard.  On the slight chance that it is raining, we will parade inside with our guests lining both sides of the hallways as the students walk through.  Dismissal is at 12:30.  After all of the students are back in their classrooms we will open up for inside dismissal.

Next Monday, November 6, we will celebrate our veterans at morning assembly.  We are inviting all current and veteran military parents or family members to attend morning assembly and come up to the front for a special blessing.  We will invite those who wish to participate to introduce themselves and tell us a bit about their military service.

If you would like to participate, please email me at [email protected] and let me know so we can plan ahead.  We appreciate your participation because it is important to us that our students look at Veteran's Day as a day to thank those who have served.  Thank you.

Please pray for and work for peace,
Jennifer

ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

Before School
7:30 to 8:00 a.m. is the normal arrival time for students. Many working parents need to drop their children at an earlier time, so arrangements have been made for Falcon's Nest to be open in the morning from 6:30 to 7:40 a.m . Any child arriving before 7:30 a.m. will be sent to Falcon's Nest and a bill will be sent monthly.
School begins at 8:00 a.m. It is important that all students are in the classroom by the 8:00 a.m. bell. Parents driving their children to school are to enter the school grounds through the driveways on Holliston and drop their children off at the appropriate site. Parents are to pull their vehicles up as far as possible before releasing their children. Vehicles exiting onto Hill Avenue are to make a right turn only. Parents are not to park on Hill Avenue or Cordova Street to drop off or pick up their children before or after school. This is for everyone's safety. Please see the traffic plan sheet that is sent home in the August packet for details.

EARLY PICK-UP BY A NON PARENT
Students that are going to be picked up during the school day by someone other than a parent will need a written note from a parent, that includes the date and signature of a parent. No student will be released to anyone unless a release is verified in writing by the parent. The staff may ask for identification if the staff does not know the person. The Car Pool list is only used for after school pick up and Emergency Cards are used only when your child is sick or injured or in case of earthquake or another emergency.

TO ST. PHILIP FAMILIES
On behalf of the Fall Festival 2017 Committee THANK YOU for all of your hard work on this year's Fall Festival!  It was a great day with beautiful weather, and lots of happy St. Philip's students!  Our festival couldn't happen without the talents and dedication of our terrific committee.  If you're interested in serving on the committee, or taking on a Fall Festival role, then please contact Kimberly Crowley, Fall Festival Chair, at [email protected].
The school has some lost and found items from Fall Festival, so please check with the front office if you are missing a personal item.  We found two sets of keys (one on a St. Francis lanyard, and one key with a football keychain), and 2 pairs of eyeglasses.
Please see the Monday Newsletter for submitting your Fall Festival hours which are due by October 31.

DON'T JUST DRESS UP AS A HERO FOR HALLOWEEN
Don't just dress up as a hero this Halloween be a real life one!
You can share your gifts this year by helping the second graders in the Trick or Treat for UNICEF program. UNICEF helps people throughout the world who have been displaced by natural disasters or emaciated living conditions. This year we have seen an overwhelming amount of floods, hurricanes and earthquakes, let's trick-or-treat for UNICEF to help out. You will be given UNICEF trick or treat boxes that you can take with you and have your family, friends, and neighbors donate change. These boxes can then be returned to the school by or before Nov 3rd. The school will collect the donations and send them to the UNICEF Trick or treat program. If you would like to find out more information about this program please feel free to check out their website at   www.unicefusa.org/trick-or- treat.  This year all of the proceeds from this program will specifically go to help the people in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, and Mexico. Remember be a hero, donate your change to make a change in these grief stricken areas of the world.
