The Healing Power of Food
Our sick clients struggle with accessing the nutritious food needed
to heal and to battle the critical illnesses they face. Whether they're homebound and unable to make the trip to the grocery store or faced with the reality of choosing to buy food or life-saving medications -
it's our responsibility to care for those unable to care for themselves
or their families.

When Liyanage first received our meals in 2010, he had End State Kidney Disease and was on dialysis. He was unable to work or leave
his home. Since then, Community Servings has delivered made-from-scratch meals that are customized to fit Liyanage's nutritional and medical needs. Thanks in part to his improved diet, in October 2015,
he was healthy enough to undergo a life-saving kidney transplant.

"I have so much more energy and vigor since getting more food
variety in my meals - I love the soups and milk. I feel the difference -
the strength. I feel so blessed to have found you," he said.

Make a tax-deductible gift today and together we can care for our sick neighbors in need.
NECN and two long-time volunteers visited Liyanage at his home. Watch and hear how Community Servings has impacted their lives.

Wild Rice & Mushroom Pilaf
Wild rice with sautéed mushrooms and dried cranberries is a perfect heart-healthy side dish for your holiday dinner table. Wild rice is low in sodium and high in fiber, helping to slow down digestion, lower cholesterol levels, and keep blood sugar steady. This year, we're proud to serve this dish in our clients' special holiday meal bag. We hope you enjoy it as much as they do!

Healthy Holiday Eating Tips
It's important to be aware of what we're putting into our bodies, especially if there's a medical condition present. Holiday events almost always involve food, some of which
is high in sugar, sodium, and empty calories.
