Be Unique - Be a Leader - Be Aquinas
Knightly News - October 29, 2017
Principal's Post

We held the drawing for the Jackpot Raffle at the football game this past Friday. The winner was an STA alumnus, Cassandra Milano.

Also, during halftime of the game, STA and JFK students and adults gathered in the end zone to pray for the families and Catholic schools affected by the natural disasters of hurricanes and wildfires. It was a great expression of Christian unity between these two Catholic schools who were competing on the football field that evening, and of our unity to our fellow man.

The Aquinas Volleyball team are District Champions. They will compete in the regional semifinals, Thursday, November 2, 7:30 pm, at Lake High School.

Aquinas Cross Country runner, Justis Paul, has qualified for the Division III State Championship Race which will be held Saturday, November 4, at 1:30 pm, at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio.

In today’s Gospel Jesus tells the Pharisees that the greatest commandment is to “...love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind … the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” At STA we strive to follow these commandments and pass on a desire to follow them in our students.

This past week, the junior class specifically lived out these commandments by performing acts of service during their retreat day. The students moved furniture and cleaned the dining room at the Refuge of Hope, organized coats, clothes, and food for Catholic Charities, painted stairwells at the YMCA, cleaned and reorganized the basement and made lunch for the retired priests at the Emmaus House, and interacted with the elderly residents at Adult Day Services and St. Joseph Nursing Home. These students were living witnesses to God’s presence in this world and at St. Thomas Aquinas.

Please continue to pray for God’s will to be done at St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Middle School and for God to strengthen us as we pursue Truth, Scholarship, and Excellence.

Have a great Aquinas week!

St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us.

Tuesday, October 26th was Junior Retreat Day. Students visited various non-profits and volunteered their time. Great job representing our Aquinas community! Several learned about being patient with those who may not have the same mental & physical capabilities as themselves. Others learned the power of presence and just having conversations. Others learned that the best plans can sometimes have kinks in them and must learn to adapt and be flexible. These kids were great!!! -- Michelle May, Campus Minister

Ways to Support STA
St Thomas Aquinas High School is partnering with Schoola ( www.schoola.com ).

What’s Schoola? It’s a great way to raise funds for our school. Schoola collects pre-loved women's and children’s clothes, preps and sells them online, and gives 40% of the proceeds (minus the cost of inbound shipping) back to St Thomas Aquinas High School to help fund programs for our kids. That’s $2 out of every $5 earned back to our school! Simply click on the image to view our very own Schoola landing page where you can request a bag and view our progress and funds earned

The AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to St. Thomas Aquinas High School & Middle School to help fund programs for our students. Every little bit counts, donations quickly add up.

It's easy! Type smile.amazon.com and log into your Amazon.com account. Select St. Thomas Aquinas High School (yes the Middle School benefits too!), Louisville, OH. That's it. Now whenever you make a purchase STA benefits.

Thank you for your support!

Don't forget to forward this to your family and friends! And encourage them to  sign up  to receive their own copy of this email blast.
