John 1:14 says, The Word became human and made his home among us..." The apostle John teaches us that "The Word" and Jesus are one and the same. As the Christmas season and celebrating the birth of Jesus are in the rear view mirror for another year, we are reminded that we have direct access to the written word daily. We begin 2017 with a new sermon series called, "THE BEST YEAR EVER".
It is so easy to think that "If I only had...." (you can fill in the blank) I would be so much better off, or life would be easier. What if the "BEST YEARS" of our life weren't controlled by what was happening in, around, or to us. But what if the, "Best Years" were a by-product of the peace and assurance that radiates from a deepening faith of knowing and trusting the one who created us? Just as our physical bodies need food to sustain life, our spiritual bodies need nourishment as well. God's Word, is the sustenance we need as believers to grow and mature in our faith.
To begin 2017, it my desire to see us as a church family grow
to Learn God's word, Love God's word as well as be compelled to Live out what God's word teaches. As we come to read, study and apply God's word to our lives, my prayer is not only will we grow in our knowledge and understanding of the Bible but also in our relationship with the one for whom the scriptures were written building a foundation for the "Best Year Ever."
While kicking off our new series, we will also be challenging our church family to begin to read through the New Testament this year. We will give you more details in our January 1st service gathering and throughout the month of January so that you can join us on this journey.
We are hosting a "Heritage Overseer and Ordained Pastor Breakfast" in conference room downstairs, Saturday January 7th at 8 am. If you are an ordained pastor and attending Heritage, we would love for you to join us. Please email [email protected] to make your reservation.
Men, pay close attention to our men's retreat coming up and make it a priority to attend at the end of January. It's a great way to start the year out. Also, be looking for upcoming information on this year's "LOVE WEEK" 2017 coming to Fruitland Park in February 11-19th. It's an intentional effort through BLESS FRUITLAND PARK to join together and LOVE on our community.
What a blessing partnering with you in ministry,
Pastor Sidney Brock
