This Week in Westville is your go-to source for news, events, activities and goings-on in the Westville community. Like NPR and other user-supported media, much of our operations rely on the support of our "local listeners" - you, the reader. In order for the Westville Village Renaissance Alliance to continue providing this valuable community service, we ask you to donate or join WVRA as a Village Person today!

Beyond the e-news, WVRA is working every day to make Westville a brighter, safer, more vibrant place to be. To learn more about our Main Street program initiatives, from community and cultural activities, economic revitalization, traffic-calming, historic preservation, and other quality of life efforts, click HERE.

November 29, 2016, The New Haven Independent, by Brian Slattery- "You First," the opening track on
Western Estates' debut EP Me First, starts with a churning electric guitar that makes its indie-rock intentions clear. But the drums that come in don't fall into the usual pattern; after sliding into the rhythm of the song, they fall into a call and response with the strong yet quavering vocals, before the end of the verse opens up into a catharsis surprising in its timing, but so welcome when it comes..." THE BIG LAZY & ELISON JACKSON
@LYRIC HALL
Big Lazy brings it's cinematic Noir and Twang to this restored vaudeville theatre in Westville. "Big Lazy, the elegantly gritty instrumental trio led by the extraordinary guitarist Stephen Ulrich... plays stunningly beautiful music that evokes everything from truckers' romps to the haunting film scores of Bernard Hermann. " ~ The New Yorker

Elison Jackson is a psychedelic-folk-rock band from Philadelphia, PA & New Haven, CT. They released their latest EP, "Silver Sounds: Hallucinations", on their own imprint, Spectral Evidence Recordings.
