CHODESH TOV & THE MONTH OF KISLEV
We all know that the festival of lights, chanukah, falls out on the 25th day of kislev. But are you aware that today, rosh chodesh kislev, has special significance?

The Chasam Sofer (HaRav Moshe Schreiber, zt"l, 1762-1839) in his writings, quotes sefarim that draw a parallel between the well known 'forty days' of repentance from rosh chodesh elul to yom kippur and the forty days between hoshana rabah and rosh chodesh kislev.

If one neglected to do complete teshuva in the first set of forty days, one has the opportunity to repent in the next set of forty.

Indeed, the conclusion to this repentance period is so significant, the Chasam Sofer writes of a minhag in some Jewish communities in Europe to fast on rosh chodesh kislev!

I wish everyone a gmar chasima tova and ah gutten chodesh!

SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS
KIDDUSH THIS SHABBOS!

Come one, come all!

Join Ohav Sholom this shabbos morning for an extraordinary davening and an outrageous, over-the-top, lip smackin' super gala washin' kiddush in honor of the chosson and kallah, Yoel Shapiro and Ahuva Mehlman.

Rebbetzin Ayelet and I are so touched by the outpouring of the many members and friends who graciously and eagerly co sponsored this special kiddush to welcome our newest son in law.

I invite the entire community to meet and greet Yoel and Ahuva at davening and kiddush and (drink l'chaim and) celebrate the young couple's bright future together. Thank you all - may we share many simchas together!

Many thanks to our (growing) list of outstanding
