Next Move in the New Year

I hope this newsletter finds you well and in joyful
anticipation  of this  holiday season. The end of the year always brings its challenges to those of us who serve the homeless population, but it also brings plenty of hope too.  During this festive season, we are all thinking about giving and sharing with others. We think about the value of others more and their incredible significance in the world. This is the time of year when we all seem to be our most generous selves!

As you consider your year-end giving, please remember Next Move and the important services we provide to our community's most vulnerable.  Our supporters at Goodwill are matching all year-end gifts, so any donation you make now will be doubled!  If you're considering an in-kind gift, we need sleeping bags, blankets, warm coats and shoes.  But in truth, we often receive more than we can distribute in December, so consider donating clothing or other items later in the year as well.

As we close the year, I must thank each of you who has had a part in the important work Next Move does. We could not do what we do without our terrific volunteers; our staff; and our partners in the community - civic groups, faith-based organizations, businesses, charitable foundations and corporate giving programs. If you are reading this, you have helped us start, sustain and grow. Please accept our heartfelt thanks.

At the end of 2016, and after my first year as executive director, I am amazed and grateful for my teammates who work hard EVERY SINGLE day to impact the lives of our clients - what hard but incredible work we do here.  Together we have done so much this year - we welcomed and integrated Francis House Center into our family of programs, we provided safety net services, emergency shelter and supportive housing options to thousands of people and hundreds of families.

But there is much more to do. We do what we can today, we focus on tomorrow, and we plan for the future where everyone has housing and everyone has an opportunity to earn a living wage. We have huge dreams - but that is for next year!  Happiest Holidays to all and much peace and health to you in 2017!

~ Tricia Rosenbaum,
   Executive Director

 Hope for the Holidays Projects

In the spirit of holiday giving, we have several opportunities for you to bring warmth and joy to those in need this holiday season!

Adopt a Family: Supports 125 families with children who are participating in Next Move programs.

Secret Santa: Provides 150 Christmas gift-filled "stockings" (gift bags/adult backpacks) to chronically homeless, disabled, seniors & older adults in Next Move housing programs.

THANK YOU METRO EDGE!!

Thank you so much Metro EDGE for all your hard work for Next Move throughout this past year! Your support means so much as we do our best to bring about real change in our community.

Thanks for Giving!

Our friends at Deloitte Consulting recently donated 100 Thanksgiving gift cards for those in our permanent supportive housing and rapid rehousing programs.  This effort was led by Michael Leszczynski from Deloitte.  This is the fourth year that they have provided holiday meals for Next Move programs.  We are so grateful for the generosity of the Deliotte Consulting team, who are dedicated to making a difference and supporting the work of Next Move.
