From the Chaplain's Office
Next
Thursday, Dec. 8, CJ will celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary with an all-school Mass at Emmanuel Church at
10:00 a.m. This feast day recalls the dogma which teaches that Mary was preserved from original sin from the moment of her conception. You are always welcome to join us.
At this liturgy, CJ will also celebrate the Bicentennial of the founding of the Marianist Sisters and the Marianist Brothers and Priests. Several Marianist Religious from the Dayton area will be joining us for Mass. We are also privileged to be hosting the Marianist Bicentennial icon on this day. It is an icon of the Wedding Feast of Cana and includes original letters from the hands of Mother Adele and Blessed Chaminade. The icon is "travelling" to every Marianist community in the world, beginning last May in Agen, France, and concluding January 2018 in Ranchi, India. After Mass, the icon will be on display in the Welcome Center. On that day, we are also hoping for a visit from "Father Chami." Make sure to ask your student about him!

Volunteer Opportunity - PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Request for Those Traveling to Florida
I am recruiting one or more CJ families who will be traveling any time over Christmas break to Florida to help by delivering Toys For God's Kids small wooden toy cars to an Sisters of Notre Dame community there, the Hope CommUnity Center.
The Center is located 30 minutes from Orlando.
Families would be asked to pack several wooden cars in their suitcases and then deliver the cars to the Center. Families would then have the opportunity to visit the Center and see firsthand the services and programs they offer to help many people. Contact me if you are interested in volunteering.

Wright Scholar Research Assistant Program
Applications Due Before Monday, Jan. 9
Qualified juniors and seniors are strongly encouraged to apply for this competitive program. The number of CJ students accepted in recent years has grown. It is a tremendous paid summer internship program at WPAFB for juniors and seniors, right in our own backyard! It is a commitment, for an entire summer, but well worth it, to introduce students to many STEMM career fields.
Start early on your application, and request letters of recommendation before Christmas break! Learn more here.
