Proposed multi-use development at the former site of Lupe's on Thousand Oaks Blvd. 
Gelson's Market opened its second store in the City at Oakbrook Plaza located at  1736 E. Avenida de los Arboles. 

Safehaven Products, a manufacturer and supplier of unique products for promotional needs, relocated their facilities from Simi Valley to  2700 Conejo Center Drive.

Natas Pateries, a Portuguese café and restaurant, opened at 2388 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard (previously occupied by Pizzeria La Piccola).

Flatiron Bagel Co. opened at the Oak Leaf Square located at 1817 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

Cyclebar, a cycling studio, opened at The Lakes,  2200 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

Cycle Gear, a motorcycle apparel and accessories store, opened at  33 W. Thousand Oaks Boulevard. 

Box Lunch, a casual pop-culture gift store, opened at The Oaks, 254 W. Hillcrest Drive.

FedEx opened a new store at the Village at Newbury Park, located at 1015 Broadbeck Drive.

Royal Kitchen and Flooring store opened at 2501 E. Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

One West Bank opened a new branch at the Westlake Plaza located at  960 S. Westlake Boulevard .

Frontier Communications
is relocating their Oxnard facility to be consolidated with Thousand Oaks facility at The Arbors, located at 2560 Teller Road.

Lowe's grading started at Grande Vista Drive and Academy Drive . Watch for the construction of Lowe's home improvement center as well as LA Fitness and three pads for future restaurants.
 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN


On September 12, 2017, City Council received the final draft of the proposed Economic Development Strategic Plan. The Plan is a long-term vision that focuses on the economic growth of the city over the next 10 years. It contains 12 strategic recommendations and proposed tools to implement the goals of the Plan.
  AUGUST AUTO SALES


A total of 1,779 new vehicles were sold in August 2017. New vehicles sales decreased by 6.37 percent from July 2017 and 2.31 percent from a year ago.  Additionally, 766 pre-owned vehicles were sold.
 VENTURA COUNTY UNEMPLOYMENT


The California Labor Market report revealed that Ventura County's August 2017 unemployment rate of 5.3 percent was up from a revised 5.0 percent in July 2017. A total of 1,800 non-farm jobs were added in August 2017, However 800 jobs were lost, for a net increase of 1,000 jobs. The loss in jobs includes 800 in leisure and hospitality. The gain includes 500 in professional and business services, 400 in trade, transportation and utilities, 400 in government, 200 in construction, 200 in educational and health services, and 100 in manufacturing.
