  ,

Can you believe it's December? Seems like we just were in the midst of a heat wave, and here we are. Halloween and Thanksgiving have already
come and gone. Now it's time for the holidays, no matter which one you celebrate. It's such a special time of year for you and your pets. We'll discuss skin conditions in dogs, as well as separation anxiety, which is
helpful this time of year when many people leave their home more often to shop. It's also a time of giving, so what about giving pets as gifts? All the information is right here in this month's Pet Tips and Treats newsletter, which is filled with valuable information. Remember to watch for our periodic special discount "treat" just for you and your pet to enjoy. Don't forget to share the love and send our newsletter to others who also cherish their pets.

Do you have a dog who freaks out when you leave the house? Do you find your house destroyed when you return? Does your dog howl when placed in a crate? Or does she incessantly follow you around the house? When dogs show signs of separation anxiety they "exhibit distress and behavior problems when they're left alone," according to " Does Your Dog Freak Out When You Leave? " an article by The Humane Society of the United States.

Thinking of Giving a Pet as a Gift? Make Sure to Do Your Homework

We seem to hear it time and again: It's a bad idea to give a pet as a gift. This sentiment is heard often during the holiday season when many people are thinking of giving a puppy, kitten or bunny as a gift. Surely giving a pet as a gift to an unsuspecting person is not a good idea. When someone is not prepared for a new furry family member, although the initial response is excitement over the adorable pet, sometimes things turn out bad.

She also works the front desk, helping with phone calls and scheduling appointments.

"Doggy Daycare is the most fun part," Juana said, as she gets to spend time with 20 or more dogs in a play setting. "Our main goal is to have them have a good time."

Juana has had pets her entire life and currently has five dogs and fosters two at home. She has been at Second Home a little more than a year and especially loves working with the rescue aspect of the business.

She takes note of how dogs are doing during their stay and makes sure to keep pet parents informed.

"I've never had a bad day where I dreaded going to work," Juana said. "I'm always super excited to go in. It really is a second home for the animals, and the people, too."
