Student Spotlight
Erica Stockwell - Cohort 15
Obstetrician, Gynecologist and Minimally Invasive Surgeon with Las Vegas Minimally Invasive Surgery and Women's Pelvic Health Center

Dr. Erica Stockwell, D.O. (Cohort 15) is an obstetrician, gynecologist and minimally invasive surgeon with Las Vegas Minimally Invasive Surgery and Women's Pelvic Health Center (LVMIS-WPHC), where she also serves as the medical practice's director of innovation and business education. In addition, Stockwell is in the process of completing her two-year minimally invasive surgical fellowship training while simultane ously pursuing her EMBA. Stockwell is one of a growing number of practicing physicians seeking an Executive MBA from the University of Nevada Las Vegas Lee Business School.

"Prior to starting the UNLV EMBA program, I saw pursuing a business degree as a means-to-an-end," said Stockwell. "I wanted a deeper understanding of business so I could champion what I believe is important in medicine and healthcare - providing quality care while also advancing new technological innovations. What I didn't realize was how transformational the EMBA program would be, and how much I would love it. I had big goals before the EMBA experience, and UNLV is preparing me for achievements even I could not have envisioned."

In addition to her work as a practicing physician, Stockwell is an entrepreneur who is using her biomedical engineering background to develop safer and more effective innovations in surgical technology. This endeavor is not new to Stockwell who, prior to medical school, double majored in Biomedical Engineering and Physiology and double minored in Chemistry and Psychology. She holds patents on several diverse technology-based medical and surgical devices. Furthermore, Stockwell has recently launched a medical consulting firm that will assist surgeons in evaluating and utilizing new technologies.
