Full-scale recruitment for the Alabama Genomic Health Initiative (AHGI) has begun at CCTS Hub clinics. AHGI, a partnership between CCTS Partners UAB and the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, seeks to collect samples from 2,000 participants in the first year. Genomic analysis and interpretation will be provided to subjects free of charge. In future years, new sites will be added across the state to reach the recruitment goal of 10,000. AHGI is one of the nation's first statewide efforts to identify those at high risk for genetic disease.
