Brighter Futures on the Horizon
for the Children MCCH Serves
MCCH serves almost 300 formerly homeless children each day in permanent supportive housing. Because education is the key to a brighter future, we provide the children we serve with access to extracurricular activities and school supplies at the start of each school year. Read more about these current initiatives below.

For the 30 formerly homeless children living at MCCH's Seneca Heights Apartments (SHA), their families face many barriers when coordinating activities outside of school. Watch this video to see how post-graduate students from the National Institute of Health are igniting the children’s passion for learning through a new partnership we created with these amazing volunteers. We are so grateful for their fun-filled "Seneca Science Days"!

Each year, our generous community helps us host a Back to School Fair for nearly 300 children served by MCCH who are no longer homeless, thanks to our permanent housing programs.

The 2017 Back to School Fair will be held in on Tuesday, August 29th at Faith United Methodist Church, located at 6810 Montrose Road, Rockville, MD 20852.

Thanks to volunteers from Total Wine who cooked hot, healthy meals for our clients at Cordell Place in Bethesda as part of our first ever Healthy Meal Cook Off!

During the Healthy Meal Cook Off, three teams from Total Wine cooked a nutritious meal for Cordell residents on different days. After tasting the food, each resident was asked to fill out a score card, ranking the meal on taste, smell, and other attributes. This event allowed the residents to feel a sense of community and to enjoy a healthy, home cooked meal.

Our friends at QIAGEN in Germantown donated and organized 100 backpacks full of basic hygiene products for the veterans we serve. This project was initiated by the Gaithersburg VFW Post 9862. We appreciate this team effort and dedication to our clients!

A group of volunteers from Kaiser Permanente recently helped make Seneca Heights Apartments (SHA) a more beautiful place to live! They added mulch to the two playgrounds at SHA and painted benches and other outdoor features. These improvements will allow our clients to relax outside for rest of their summer!

Thank you for your commitment to ensuring that all Montgomery County residents have a safe, stable and affordable place to call home!

Sincerely,

Susie Sinclair-Smith, Executive Director
