Our Many Thanks...
The various learning opportunities that have occurred within just a few short months have reiterated just how valuable and supportive our local communities and business partners are to SAGES. Through partnerships, we have been fortunate enough to bring in local experts to share their knowledge and experiences, to present service projects, to lead stations at our Marsh Haven camp, and to provide resources for our Apple Crunch experiment. Support and partnerships were also strengthened through our successful Parent/Teacher Conferences, as staff and families came together to celebrate the academic growth of students. A big thanks to organizations, like PTO and Waupun High School, for helping with our book fair and child care efforts. Whether shown through the donation of time or providing monetary or other resources, we continue to be thankful for the contributions made to SAGES.

SAGES' 2017-2018 School Goals
|
|
Every year, SAGES strives to provide a positive and meaningful school experience to your children. Looking to instill a passion for learning and increase student progress, we know there is always room to grow our educational programming. With that, we would like to share our goals for the 2017-2018 school year:
- We aim to improve the number of students who are proficient or advanced in literacy and math by at least 3 percent.
- We will increase our student attendance rate to 95%.
- Teachers and staff will continue to build their understanding of instructional targets and objectives.

SAGES learners explore all things Wisconsin!
|
|
|
This fall season, harvesting has been a reoccurring theme within projects and classroom activities. For the October 12th Apple Crunch event, learners completed a taste-testing experiment after they learned about the distances and attributes related to locally harvested apples.
Through place-based instruction, our first and fourth grade students took a trip to Waupun Equipment and Ballweg Implement to gain knowledge about farming equipment; this information will aid in an upcoming project where students create a model of their own farming tool.
Our students in grades 4-6 ventured to Marsh Haven for a camp experience on October 26 and 27. Activities included: a nature scavenger hunt, environmental learning stations, logic/strategy games, etc. A big thanks to all the staff and volunteers who helped make this event possible.

During National Fire Prevention Week, the 4K class took a tour of the Fox Lake Fire Department. The students were able to walk through a fire truck and see the equipment that is on the truck. A firefighter put his full gear on to show the kids how he looks when rescuing people from a fire. He talked about all of the gear with the students. The firefighter explained how each piece kept firefighters safe. Then, students got to climb in the ambulance with him and watch an EMT check his blood pressure and heart rate, just like they would do when at a real fire. At the end of the trip, students were surprised with a ride back to school on a fire truck. What an awesome and fun learning experience!
