In response to member requests, the Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that we are launching a completely redesigned business expo called the Lakes Area Expo!   The Lakes Area Expo will offer your business the opportunity to connect - in person - with area residents in an exhibit hall format.  In addition, we'll have some great promotional and visibility opportunities for your business!

The event will be held on Saturday, March 25th 2017 at Maranatha Church (24799 Highway 61 North, Forest Lake).

We've got a fantastic expo planned, and have invested in a marketing plan to bring area residents to the expo, and to your booth!

Please join us for a free introduction to the Expo and learn 9 Tips for a SUCCESSFUL Expo Booth.  We'll cover the basics of the Expo - exhibit booth and other promotional opportunities - as well as walk through the highlights of the program and marketing plan, designed to ensure that we bring in plenty of area residents.

Friends Make a Difference Mentoring Program
Help Mentor At-Risk Youth

The YMCA's Friends Make a Difference Mentoring program's goal is to facilitate healthy development of at-risk youth in grades K-12 by providing adult mentors who can act as a friend, provide personal and professional advice, and lend an ear. Research indicates that, if given the opportunity to engage in a trusting and caring relationship, youth will benefit in multiple areas of their lives. Over 1,000 students & mentors have participated in this program since 1998.

The program strengthens our community and offers our youth role models who help with leadership and character development, learning and life-long skill building

Mentor and mentee may play games, participate in a service project, work on goal setting or simply talk. Activities are individualized based on the needs of the student. Parents/guardians also provide input regarding the needs of their child, and the goals of the match. The program runs from September/early October-May.

To be a mentor, you don't need special skills, just the ability to listen and to offer friendship, guidance and encouragement to a young person. You'll be amazed by how much you get out of the experience as well!

Mentoring opportunities are currently available at fifteen schools in three districts. Forest Lake, Chisago Lakes, and North Branch.

Mentors meet once or twice a month over the students lunch break during the school year. (September-May).
