More than the Gift of Sleep
Arlo and I were just finishing our in-patient visiting today at Nemours|A.I. duPont Hospital for Children when we received a request for a dog. The little girl, aged 8, smiled widely when we walked into her room and promptly fell asleep with Arlo snuggled in. I asked the Mom if her daughter needed rest and perhaps we should go. The Mom teared up and told me that the little girl was exhausted but they couldn't get her to sleep. So we stayed until the little one awoke.

And there's more. Mom, Dad, and daughter were in the hospital earlier this year, and the little girl was very upset.  One of our teams (described as a man and his German Shepherd - Mike Zdinak & Ellis) was walking by and stopped. The Shepherd rested his head on the girl's bed and refused to leave her. The mom said that these were the moments that allowed her daughter to get some perspective on the her hospitalization and her condition improved.

The Mom thanked me repeatedly for all that PAWS does. "You've made everything better for my daughter, and I don't know how to thank you."

PAWS' Year End Appeal - Donation Challenge
A donor has pledged to match donations to the Annual Appeal made between now and this Friday, 12/9/16 at 5 PM up to $2000.00. If you were thinking of making a donation, now's the time to help PAWS TWICE as much!

Learn more about our Year End Appeal and Expansion Campaign.

Your gift will have a lasting impact. Please help ensure that PAWS pet therapy teams continue to provide even more visits that are life-changing.  With your donation, we will be able to continue to proudly say ...PAWS Is There!

"The holiday season is here, and all is hairy and bright. While you're shopping for all your favorite people, don't forget your four-legged friends - after all, a dog's love is unconditional, and not just at Christmas. "
