Welcome to the December 2016 edition of the Sandy Springs E-Newsletter, a publication that highlights news and events happening within the City. More information from City Hall can be found online at sandyspringsga.gov. You can also telephone our Call Center 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 770-730-5600.
FINAL PUBLIC HEARING SET FOR THE NEXT TEN
It's been more than a year and dozens of meetings since the process to revise the city's Comprehensive Land Use Plan began.  On December 6, 2016 the Sandy Springs City Council will hold a public hearing to hear last comments from the community.  You can view the propose plan at www.thenext10.org.  You can also submit comments online up through December 6, 2016.

What's next?
The Comprehensive Land Use Plan provides guidance, creating a general blueprint for future development projects as an advisory document.  Zoning, what is allowable today, regulates the type, scale and intensity of development which can occur in the specific zoning districts.  Following adoption of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, the focus will be on updating the City's zoning code, including development of a Development Code which combines zoning with subdivision and other related development regulations into a single document, providing clear and consistent language, including graphics, to illustrate the regulations.
TRANSPORTATION SURVEY
Sandy Springs is also working with our North Fulton neighbors in updating the North Fulton Comprehensive Transportation Plan. We all use the transportation system differently! Transportation influences how we move, how goods and services reach us, and how we access our jobs, schools, and activities. Help us understand the issues that are important to you by taking the #NFCTP2017 survey at https://northfultonctp.metroquest.com/.
HOLIDAY SAFETY
You've spent hours shopping for the perfect gifts. Keep them safe while transporting from mall to your home.  Please remember to remove or hide anything of value before leaving your car.  Equally important - lock your car!  Don't make it easy for thieves to make use of your valuables.

While our weather thus far has been on the warm and dry side, winter is just around the corner.  Notification of any weather or traffic emergencies can be sent directly to your phone or computer when you sign up for Sandy Springs Alerts.  This opt-in notification system gives you choices - a weekly traffic update, emergency traffic alerts, and public safety alerts.  In addition, you can register for Smart911, a system that provides critical information to first responders when every second counts.  To learn more and to sign up, visit www.sandyspringsga.gov/alerts.
MARSH CREEK RAIN GARDEN RIBBON CUTTING AND DEDICATION
The City of Sandy Springs will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Marsh Creek Rain Garden Park on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 11:00 am. The City's first urban stormwater treatment park is located at 100 Johnson Ferry Road between Sandy Springs Circle and Bonnie Lane/Wright Road. Parking is limited, and residents in adjacent neighborhoods are strongly encouraged to walk. The Marsh Creek Rain Garden Park is an innovative program designed to improve water quality by treating and filtering stormwater runoff before it flows into Marsh Creek, the tributary leading into the Chattahoochee River.
