Washington Elementary School's Sandra Edwards Named 2017-2018 Principal of the Year
Sandra Edwards of Washington Elementary School has been named the School District of Palm Beach County's 2017-2018 Principal of the Year! 

Under Principal Edwards' leadership, Washington Elementary raised its school grade from an "F" to a "B" in the 2016-2017 school year. Washington's 3rd graders boasted the highest third grade ELA gains in Palm Beach County, ranking in the 99th percentile in the state for ELA learning gains.

Teacher's Message of Love Still Resonates With Students Decades Later

From Timber Trace to The Tonight Show
Mark Twain once said "golf is a good walk spoiled." But for Madison Moman, a fifth grade student at Timber Trace Elementary School in Palm Beach Gardens, golf has led her to the bright lights of The Tonight Show in New York City.
 
Success has come at a very early age for Madison, both on and off the greens. The Timber Trace standout was featured in Golf Digest Magazine in a heartwarming article "Play Like a Kid Again", and has already scored three hole-in-ones, an achievement some who participate in this sport have been assigned to eternity to wait for. Forest Hill High School Senior's Perseverance Earns Her Recognition as Scholarship Finalist
Forest Hill High School senior Victoria Estevez received a very welcome surprise while sitting in her English class this week. Representatives from the Take Stock in Children organization joined Forest Hill High School Principal Dr. Mary Stratos in honoring Victoria as one of 12 student finalists in this year's Leaders for Life fellowship program. 

The word "perseverance" is an understatement when it comes to Victoria. She is the main caregiver to her two siblings, her 95-year-old great-grandmother, and her grandmother, who is battling cancer.

Balancing family responsibilities with school work hasn't always been easy, but Victoria has taken everything in stride. She's maintained a 3.76 GPA, is currently taking two courses at Palm Beach State College, and has amassed 500 community service hours. Upon graduation, she'll continue her studies in college with the goal of one day becoming a neurologist.  Read more...

District Schools Beam With Pride After Receiving Prestigious Five Star School Award

Seventy-five District schools that earned the right to call themselves a Five Star School for 2016-2017, gathered on October 25 for a celebratory breakfast in honor of the impressive achievement.

Superintendent Robert Avossa was on hand to congratulate the schools as well as thank the Principals and Five Star Coordinators for their hard work.
 
"It's so important that we take the time to just stop and celebrate, and look back at the kind of success that we've been able to accomplish," Dr. Avossa said.   Read more...
